Something that was somewhat strange but, more than anything, unexpected happened early this morning. I woke up at 5:45 a.m. to do some last minute review for a test that I had today. The last thing I expected was to have a WILD. I was sitting at my desk and it was still dark out and very quiet. I studied until about 6:40 a.m. and I decided that I would lay my head down on the table and rest my eyes. I covered my head with my jacket to keep out the light and used my folded arms as a pillow. After what I am sure was about 15 minutes I began to get that tingly feeling that I get just before entering the dream state. Fortunately I stayed calm and decided to take advantage of this occurance (Usually when I am not purposely attempting a WILD I just slip into unconciousness and fall asleep). I began to feel like I was falling forward and sinking through my chair. The blackness became a semi-blurry image of my office and I knew that I was in a dream. Since it had been a while since my last LD it took me a moment to remember how to stablize the dream. At first I began floating up to the ceiling. I eventually got my feet on the ground and started rubbing my hands together. My vision was still slightly blurred but the rubbing helped. I began to walk out of my office, not really knowing where I wanted to go. I figured I would just walk out the back door and then take it from there. Before I had taken more than a few steps my cousin slammed a door (in the real world) and yelled somthing to my mom who was just entering the kitchen. My dream quickley faded and I woke up back on my desk. Although the WILD lasted only momemtarily, it was strange to have one without purposely trying. Looking back on the situation, I inadvertently followed all the steps of WBTB (wake, back to bed); I woke up earlier than usual, after about 6 hours of sleep, stayed up for roughly 45 min studying, and then took a nap/ went to sleep on my desk. Anyways I just thought that it was an interesting and unusual experience.

Congratulations on the WILD! : D I've been wanting to try the WILD myself, but really don't feel like setting my alarm clock. >_>

I have a question for you though, what did it feel like when the image of your office started to appear? Did you have to open your eyes or what? I've had some situations where I've felt like I've been spinning around, but when I feel it, I never open my eyes, mainly because I don't see anything really, and I never get further than that, I either fall asleep, or become a bit more aware, usually the latter.

But yes, when you saw the image of your office, did it just appear behind your closed eyelids, or did you actually have to open your eyes? This is the part that I never get.

Well in this case I never opened my dream eyes, the images just appeared and gradually it felt as if my eyes were open. I have, however, had WILD's in which I did open my dream eyes and there was no scene until I did. This leads me to believe that it can go either way. If you feel vibrations and other sensations that would point to having successfully completed a WILD and then you find yourself in darkness, try opening your eyes and chances are good that you will be in a dream. If your eyes are closed but you begin seeing visuals then just go with the flow and hopefully it will turn into a full fledged dream. It took me a while to teach my self how to WILD (several months of almost daily attempts) but now all I do is WILD. Believe me when I say that it is well worth it to invest the time to learn the skill. Also another word of advice for WILDing: Everyone is different! It took me a while just to find a combination of WILD techniques that worked for me. Experiment with all different WILD techniques and take the elements that work for you and develop a style that is geared specifically for you. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Good luck!
