Awhile back i thought up an idea to stop nightmares which was to turn my back on them and not think about them so i continued walking on. So this idea was okay until i was jumped on from behind and killed. Its just weird that the perspective of the you and the dream is all the same. I thought that you have complete control of your dreams but i always think of the other peoples perspective in your dreams so this might be why my idea didn't work.
Still i want to know why this still happened and well its hard to explain but why the nightmare will carry on even if you just turn your back on it. I mean if you turn your back on a dream shouldn't it disapper unless you turn and look at it again.
Im not afraid of the dark, its whats in it.
*the lights turn off and the whole room goes dark*
Oh im fin- Ahhhhhhhh its a scary figment of my imagination.

You must have still been thinking about it. Maybe you where saying to yourself, I hope no one gets me from behind, and there you go, thats really all the dream needs.

One time I was arguing with a person in a dream, and I thought about saying screw you, but held my tongue, and before I knew it, the person told me the exact same thing.

I would suggest making nightmares funny, instead of turning your back on them. If you have a huge crab chasing you with loofahs on its claws, laugh at it. (The nightmare came from Dane Cook's Harmful if Swallowed act)

The only thing I hate is when something in a dream hurts you, and you wake up with the pain. For me I normally end up laying in a weird position and make my back sore, and in a dream, someone kicks me in my back.
