I was just curious, have many of you guys died in your dreams? This has actually happened a few times and it's a really wierd feeling. One time I pretty much had my head bitten and then my neck snapped by a crocodile and this other time I was stabbed in the head. Everything just kind of just faded to black like as I died. The one where I was stabbed in the head, right when it happened I was like feeling my head where the knife was stuck in and thinking like "Wow, I'm dying." But then I started thinking in my kind of faded to black stage, "Did I really just die, or am I just dreaming?" But at that point, I am not into a deep enough sleep anymore. I guess I might have been able to have a lucid dream after that happened and that's the closest I've ever gotten. I guess I was just kind of wondering has anyone else experienced this or possibly gone lucid because of it?

I have died several times in my dreams. They are very powerful to me. Possibly because the emotions that I experience in the dying process is intense.. very intense.

I always feel myself hitting the floor because my body no longer respond and before I black out, I always get a last look at something that usually provoke a powerful emotion in me... then as I watch it getting blurred out, I think to myself, "That's it. That's how dying feels like..." then my vision goes offline.

Sometimes I can be thrilled that I am dying... sometimes I will panic that I have unfinished work to do... sometimes I don't respond or don't know how to react to that... sometimes it is more of a spiritual death than an actual death. A death in a dream is always unique to me.

Speaking of spirituality, I have had some "OBEs" after dying in my dream. The reason why I have put it in quotes is because it isn't an actual OBE, but still cool nevertheless.

Death means transfiguration to me. Moving to a new stage of life/spirituality. It's a beautiful thing to me.

Edited: Yes, I have became lucid before because of the death, but not the entire time. And in my opinion, it is always fun to experience the death without being lucid because I believe it's real and hence I experience it as a real thing instead of being lucid and know that it's fake.. experiencing that is not the same thing when I truly believe that it's real.

Yea that fading to black part is crazy, it just feels so real. It's actually kind of cool to have one of these kinds of dreams, because for now that's the closest we can get to experiencing death.

Thanks for sharing. I have never experienced dying in my dreams before (or at least, not that I can remember). I don't think I want to experience it just yet. I don't think I am ready for this experience

Personally, I feel that the experience of death in dreams, that is to say, the perceptions felt when one dies in dreams is possibly due to one's subconscious/unconscious memories of one's deaths in countless past lives.

If you use the Search option, there are many threads where people have replied to the question of Experiencing Death. Just type in keywords like "Death" "Dying" "Experiencing Death" or whatever.

I died in quite a few dreams. once, i died twice in my dream... lets review
my brother and i stole some things from these mafia people, we ran and hid but they found us, they shot me first so i didnt get to see what happened to my brother. i was then in another dream with a new found sister (i dont have a sis but w/e) and there was a spirit haunting the outside of the house. i got fed up and ran outside and it flew at me and i exploded. I died, but I didnt. My sis could still see me, it was like my own soul exploded.. it was odd.. then we went to the train tracks where there was a cemetary on top the tracks and our parents were buried there.. all strange but yeah.... quite an experience
My brother has LDs where he knows he cant die, so he just goes and jumps of cliffs and such.. Lol guess you can do awesome things when you know you're dreaming

When i was a child my dreams really ended in death. Death in those days was horrible as it felt like a thousand needles going into me at the same time tickleing me so it was the worst thing for me. On the other hand when i didn't die or escaped death i always had the over powering sensation that i succeded and i felt so confident about myself and when i woke i always felt happy so i guess dying in my dreams brought me to understand happiness. Now when i die in my dreams i feel so used to it that i am a lot calmer now. The worst times when i die is when i feel completely useless and no one will help you. Thats another thing, when someone did help me out i felt so happy and more alive then i ever did. I guess now its just brought me to understand that good things can happen, more so then you think.
Im not afraid of the dark, its whats in it.
*the lights turn off and the whole room goes dark*
Oh im fin- Ahhhhhhhh its a scary figment of my imagination.

I have died in two of my dreams. It is weird to me that all of you say you have experienced the pain and "fading to black" thing. For me I wake up RIGHT before I die, or I die and continue on with my dream - dead and all.

Once I was in an underground garage thing, and there was a drive by. I was shot three times in my chest. It didn't hurt but I stood there, looking down and watching the blood trickle down my body. Then I had this strange feeling of relief. I walked around and ended up in a bathroom, and I saw what I looked like. My skin was all white and I had a weird glow sort of. I don't know, I was walking around the dream all happy because I knew there was something more.

In the other one, I was at work and someone murdered me. They took my body away as I stood there watching. I looked down at myself and saw that I was still me, except my skin was white and I had that glow again. So I then proceeded to talk to my coworker. They were like "Something is different about you" and I said "Yeah, maybe because I'm dead." She looked baffled. I then walked around my dream and it turns out the only people that could see me were people I knew during my lifetime.

I used to die often in my dreams, so much so that for a while, I hated sleeping (but I was only like 12 at the time), there was nothing I could ever do to stop it (the dying). My vision started to fade away and my body started going numb (if I was in, I guess, pseudo-pain?), but I'd always be like... "I guess this is how people who are shot feel" or something relavent to how I died, it didn't really bug me, the emotions that came with dying, what bugged me was that even when I died and I was fairly lucid, I couldn't stop it, I mean, in an LD you can do anything, but I've never been able to stop my own death in an LD... Oh well, dying is truly a unique experience though, however how gruesome it may seem

I can relate believe me. I have been ravaged by dreams of death, getting shot really. The emotions that encompass the process are more intense than any I have felt in waking life. This one time I was really horrified as this guy was shooting me. 1000 thoughts and emotions were going through me as the shots were hitting me and he was in the wrong, why was he doing this to me. Why so much hatred. Then I became lucid (after being fatally shot) and realized it was all a dream and let's just say, it was a battle of EPIC proportions. I dealt with him accordingly, and I payed him back for a lifetime of persucution in my dreams and he hasn't been back since. When he does come back in my dreams I'll be ready.

Just last night I died in my dream - got bitten by an angry kind of spirit spider. The only thing was, it was a weird dream and it was kind of like a big game - if you got bitten you lost.

In the dream my sister gave away my hiding place to the spider thing, and it came and bit me, and then her. Everything went black, and a little mesesage popped up saying "You have both died."
I can't remember what happened after that. Either I woke up, or a new dream started.

I used to die in dreams a lot, but I don't very often anymore. The feeling used to disturb me, but it's kind of cool now. The fading to black thing is interesting, but the most interesting part to me is falling to the ground as nothing but dead weight. There's also a numbness to the whole thing.

The one I remember most clearly is when I was attacked by this big black dog. It never really bit me, or even touched me, but it ran up to me in this dark ally at night and start barking and growling at me, then my hearing sort of shut off and everything became fuzzy (fuzzier), then before I knew it I was falling to the ground very slowly, but my body was practically numb. It's a strange feeling.

i had this looooooong dream involving "the bad guys" chasing me through a series of buildings. Unfortunately, i didnt become lucid until i got tossed off the top of a super tall building. on my way down i realized i was dreaming but instead of trying to fly away or levitate to the ground, i purposely let myself hit the ground so i could see what the impact would feel like, and maybe i would die in my dream.

i could definitely feel the impact, but it didnt hurt.

i believe i died in the dream because everything then went black for a few minutes then i woke up in real life.

      cool experience
      am i dreaming?
