      clocks in dreams...

hey all. i was just wondering what u guys see when u look at a digital clock/watch in ur dreams? what i saw was it changed ever second like a real clock. but the hour and the minutes changed every second. so it would have been like this: 9:40, 6:34, 11:59... and so on every second. what else do u guys see?

i also would like to start a conversation on this. that i heard sum-where (possibly in "Exploring The World Of Lucid Dreams") that the clocks move like this in dreams becuase it could be DST (dream standard time). now i don't think that this is true because i heard one time that a kid saw on his clock 1345 B.C. (or sumthing like that). it just changes because nothing is stable or sumthing in dreams right? help me out with this 2...

I did it once to perform a RC when I succesfully entered a dream after a WILD. The light on my digiwatch didnt really work, and the time changed when I looked at it again. The number where rational though.

Dont think there's something like a DST... its NOT some different world/plane imo, so I think that words/numbers etc are just something thats hard for your brain to process or remember, because the logic part of our brain is turned off in our dreams, though we try hard to keep it working, its not likely that its going to perform as good as in waking life. Thats why its also sometimes so easy to lose lucidity, it turns off again and we start to accept everything. Some people might have had exceptionally clear lucid dreams though, heard some stories on these boards about reality checks not working because it all stayed the same...

Yep I think when you focuse on a digital clock in a dream your subconscious just throws the first thing out there on it. I rarely see numbers the second time around. If I focuse back on the clock again then the time would become some wired symbols or some sort of moving pictures, kinda cartoony like.

Clocks in my dreams have different "attitude": first time I saw them, they went berserk (like 12:00 1:78 124:15 43:89 and numbers were changing color)

Then they can just change numbers, but they are within limits.

Sometimes numbers turn grey and it looks like clock are damaged.

But most of the time it's just minor leaps (like 2-5 minutes)

Actually I've got a little bit of a handicap when it comes to RCs because the digital clock in my bedroom often goes nuts in real life and starts to throw weird characters and changing digits.

I had a lucid dream this morning that was the first of which I did an RC on my digital watch (actually looked at it accidently) not quite sure of the details but the figures were wierd.

Hey, theres a RC that I do to determine whether I'm dreaming that has succesively worked both times I have gone lucid. First, look at your watch, then cover it with your hand, and think of a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT time...if it reads 2:37, try something like 10:22...then remove yur hand and look at it again......and obviously if it changes you're dreaming !

      Good idea!
Usually I get to an LD by the WILD method, but the first time I went lucid within a normal dream was when I looked at a digital clock. It displayed some normal time like 11:30, I looked away and then back and it showed 88:88.
The second time I thought to look at a clock in a normal dream, it was displaying strange characters that changed as I watched it.

Eh, its not that its a clock that makes it so good for a RC, its the fact that your watch is around your wrist that makes it so easy to check... and especially digital watches are prone to changes in your dreams, making them even better. If you had a tattoo with some text on your wrist it'd be equally good.

I always see things like they are in reality so it sucks for me, lights turn on like normal, computers start up and work, digital clocks read perfectly, and, well. there are no dream signs that are normal in my dreams.

you should consider yourself lucky becasue that means if you get lucid its very stable right?

Usually the clocks in my dream are always pretty much accurate, well at least for that dream world. I never experience fluctuations in time patterns or anything of that sort. Even picking up books, I can pretty much read the first sentence and return back to that same sentence and there isn't any change.
