Lding Great Creative Works Out Of This World

I am ruthlessly TEASED by the "GODS" of the Dream World who show me Great Art Works in my Lucid Dreams, and do not allow me to keep them for long in my memory after awakening. In rare but fascinating lucid dreams, I have observed great creative works that don't exist in our world. I have consciously read great poems, watched great films, read excerpts of great scholarly texts, heard great symphony music, or I have dreamed that I was taught great knowledge that is not available in our world. I am delighted, impressed, and excited by the great works that I read or view during my LDs, and by the great knowledge that I am taught during my LDs. Terribly, after I awaken I am "allowed" (by whom?) to remember the greatness that I just witnessed for only a few minutes. Then my memory soon fades away, and I completely forget the actual content of the work, although I remember the type of work I read or saw. As soon as I try to record a description of my LD experience, I forget my "great artistic work" experience, so I have no memory of the art left to record. I don't normally use my lucid dreams to actually create anything my self. I have had only a few dreams about actually creating a work of art (poem, song, film). Anyway when I try to do something in my LDs, I don't normally have time to finish. I prefer to use my lucid dreaming time to search for things I would like to see or persons I would like to meet. I am more successful at finding interesting creative works than persons in my LDs. This is my first post in this forum. I just could not wait to see whether any one else has similar experiences with searching for, finding, or seeing interesting artistic or mysterious things in dreams?

I've always wondered about this; what if the things that you are seeing are really not that great? I know that in my dreams, I can and will acept the most bizzare things as commonplace; who's to say that these things are commonplace, but seem amazing? I mean, if you've never managed to "take" one out of a dream, all you've got to run on is your impressions, and that's an almighty flimsy thing when it comes to dreams....No offense, just my two cents...

Ill take your two cents and donate it. Who cares if what you find beautiful affects others, the experience is something you can keep for yourself. Don't get me wrong either, sharing those experiences can be rewarding. I have indeed taken artistic ideas from my dreams. From actual drawings to problem solving on pieces of code or other pressing issues in my life. It also seems that defining art is in ITSELF becoming an art these days. One particular LD I had a long while back, I took the opportunity to 'trace' people and places with a pencil in a park near my house. It didn't take nearly as long as I had expected, I think when I wasn't looking my unconscious did some of it for me. When I was finished the whole park was charcoaled in with great detail, it reminded me of my mother's drawings as a child. I will never forget that dream and so I managed to 'take' it with me and that doesn't seem so flimsy to me. You will be able to recall more and more from your dreams if you put in the effort. I hope you keep a dream journal and practice the more common recall methods. If not I suggest you check out some of the tutorials on this site. If it inspires you...Run with it. When I lucid dream I normally clearly remember the content of my dreams without recording my dreams. But when I dream of "great artistic works," I don't have good dream recall. With art-related dreams, even when I try to record things, I can't make it in time. So I see that it is easy to be skeptical about whether the "great art" LD I've had really were about high art, or even whether they were lucid dreams at all. It is very possible that I am sometimes getting tricked by passive dreams. I could just have had a passive dream that I was having a lucid dream, and that I was feeling fascinated by something that I felt I was seeing, but was not really seeing at all!

when I have similiar experiences of great artistic things, I normally have great dream recall when I wake up. so I can really judge while on my bed how amazing they were, and they were amazing! the only problem is, writing about them hardly illustrates what I saw, and even though I am an artist I can't sit down in bed for the next fifty hours drawing it either. eventually, I forget the details, just like you forget what you ate for dinner a week ago...

Even when I remember unusual vividly beautiful sightings in lucid dreams, it is difficult to describe them. For example, I had a dream of a god-like beautiful man standing naked in my bedroom! He was not a man of flesh, however. He was trasparent and composed of water. He had a humanoid figure and mathematical equations could be seen in his body. It was a beautiful image but difficult for some one who has not dreamed that to imagine how beautiful that it could be to see that.

I've dreamt poems that I couldn't recall when I awoke, but most of the time those poems were written in another language or one that doesn't exist :\ There have been a few times that what happened in the dream was just too amazing and mind-blowing to translate into waking life. Completely transcendental stuff, god imagery, divine understanding, things of that nature. Dreams like that convince me that dreaming is definitely more important than most people know.
