Ever since my friend informed me about lucid dreaming several months ago, I have been going to bed night after night with great hopes, and in the morning waking with no success. Until today.

I have been severely concentrating on the WILD method. So last night I got further than ever before. I felt my body enter sleep paralysis. But then something happened that I did not expect: I slipped into a dream in which I was still in my bed and still felt the sleep paralysis. My hands started moving as though I was a puppet on strings. This, for some reason, didn't alert me and I didn't dare disturb my strange movements in the fear that I would disrupt sleep paralysis. Eventually people began coming into my room and asking me why my hands were moving like so. I got angry at them, as they were disrupting my WILD. I was completely unaware that I was already in the dream. Crazy.

Next thing I know I'm standing at the entrance to my college's cafeteria with my family. We are about to enter for a meal. I turn around and think, "I might as well do a reality check". I look at my hands. Where some of my fingers were before, they were now replaced by two fingers spirally entwined. And then I realized, with great excitement, "I'm dreaming!" I was so overjoyed - in a way I haven't been in real life for quite some time - and then I determined that I should do something fun. I ran outside as quickly as I could, crouched on the ground, lept upwards and took of flying. I flew high above my school, at times diving in close to the ground and then swooping back up again. Beyond that, I have very fuzzy memories of being in a dark room and realizing that I was losing the dream.

I wish it had lasted longer, but the taste I did get was amazing. Now I'm pumped to hone my ability to lucid dream. And a thanks to everyone on this board, it was very helpful reading things on here as I spent months pursuing this.

      Congratulations on your first lucid!

The first time is always incredible. Although your lucidity didn't last long, keep it up and check out some tutorials on retaining lucidity; they've really helped me out.

All right! That's impressive, to have a first lucid as a WILD! I had a WILD the other night (only like my 2nd or 3rd successfull WILD) and I thought I was being viciously tickled during the sleep paralysis. I was angry too, for the same reason as you! But as soon as I realized it wasn't real, it went away. I had problems getting deeply into the dream, and was aware of my real body periodically. I had problems even standing up in the dream; I ended up crawling and slithering around. I think it was because I felt my sleep paralysis too much. I hope I can improve on that next time.

Because I wasn't deeply in the dream, I was on the verge of losing it the whole time, and actually came out of it once or twice. Something that I used to get back into it, that may help you in the future, is the DEILD technique, I think it is dream-exit induced lucid dream. Usually, it is used to have a lucid as you are coming out of a regular dream--by not moving and focussing as you wake up, you can sometimes get back into the dream you just left, except you are now lucid. I used this to return to the lucid dream; when I started to lose it, I focussed on patterns, like on the floor on on people's clothing, and I could get back into it like that.

Anyway, the first lucid is very exciting, so congratulations! I hope it is the first of many.

Hahaha. That's awesome, it's one of those typical *doh* dream moments. They happen, especially during the transition/FA part of some WILDs.

      Anyway, to DV!!!
