      First WILD... Pretty awesome stuff

Yeah, I had my first WILD yesterday... was pretty cool since I did a hypnogogic imagery WILD, and I just slipped straight in after a little bit, just passively watching the HI come and go. All of a sudden, I find myself sitting on a beautiful beach... white sand and a calm ocean. The sky was a sort of silvery blue, no sun, clouds or stars, but it was a sort of twilight. I rubbed my hands together to try and stabilise the dream and then I just got up and walked down the beach, wanting to explore it a bit. Saw a few oddities and some passers-by... and after a while I decided to fly. So I lifted my arms to each side and I just soared into the sky, simply because I recalled a dream in which I flew, and merely imagined the feeling I got from that dream. I have never felt so free before, its quite amazing. I flew over a city and then landed in it, though as I explored the place, I lost lucidity and just went about the place like I would in any other dream.

Not bad for a first attempt at combining WILD and WBTB. I didn't succeed this morning, but I think I'm going to experiment with different waking periods in the morning (how long I should stay awake for... half an hour seems to be a bit excessive for me, gonna keep it to 15 minutes, or if I need longer, 45 minutes... all for finding the best amount of time I can manage with so to get the best out of my WILD technique). Considering the quick success I had with a WBTB+WILD, I'm going to keep at it and see how I can manage with that.

      congrats,
I'm so close to WILD I can taste it (literally)
I actually this morning was flashing back and forth between being in my bed and standing in my schools gym.
Then my mom said it was 6:30, so I had to get ready for goddamn school.

Not the first one exactly, since I had attempted it a couple of times before, but with naps and stuff, and using a slightly different technique. As far as with that one, with a visual/HI WILD combined with WBTB, it was my first. I haven't succeeded in replicating yet, but I just need to work myself back into the frame of mind I had that morning. I'll need to wait until friday, since morning schedules for university require me to be up and about before I can have a chance to try WILDing again.

How about trying to go to sleep earlier so to allow you to wake up earlier for the WBTB routine? Not to do so every night, but in a schedule nonetheless, so every so and so days, you go to bed a bit earlier so you can WILD in the morning. And by the sounds of things, you are very close to succeeding. Just remember to think of yourself as watching a TV show, and concentrate on the imagery as if you were an observer focused on the show. Don't get involved, since you have to wait until you feel yourself slip into the dream. It will literally engulf like a bubble growing around you. Once you feel that transition, even if you turn out to be back in your bed or in darkness, either test your reality or open eyes, and you'll probably find yourself in a dream. You'll then realise how relatively easy it is. I mean... on my first attempt of visualising HI, I was able to do it. It's all about finding the best time really... since I think at about 6:30, if I wake up then, I always wake up out of a dream... so I think that helps with succeeding with WILD.

That's great man and yeah, WBTB + WILD is definitely the thing to do -- all of my successful WILDs have been in combination with WBTB.

I heard that, statistically, the WBTB technique is said to work about 60% of the time, so compounded with whatever other technique works best for you when you try to LD when going back to bed, you've got some pretty good odds there.

Recently, I haven't been able to repeat the results maybe I need to either work on a WBTB routine which fits more my usual sleeping patterns or just WILD every so couple of days... maybe I got lucky then... oh well... best to keep on trying...
