Talking My first (and only) controlled lucid dream

Before I had ever even heard the term "lucid dream", my brother and I made a list of things we would do the next time we knew we were dreaming. One of the things on my list was to transport myself to an ocean. A few weeks later, I was dreaming and became lucid, and I remembered my list. I transported myself to an ocean (it had so much vivid detail!) but I concentrated too hard and woke up. Now I am going to try the reality check technique to try and have more lucid dreams!

I heard about reality checking and dream journals in grade school. The impression I got then was that it was just a funny hobby some people had. I didn't discover the potential of lucid dreaming until in this my 21st year. Is this common?

It is probably common, because when I was younger I thought it was a bit silly, too.

I've been trying the reality check method, and last night I managed to become lucid, but I would either wake up or have a false awakening.

Congratulations on your first "controlled" lucid dream!

Many "experienced" lucid dreamers still have problems transporting themselves somewhere or have never accomplished that feat!

      Way to go!
