Missed a whole set of dream signs!

The night before last, I had a really freaky dream, and didn't even catch the signs! To start with, let me tell you I have 2 pet rats named Tidbit and Scrabbles.

In the dream, we had this back room in our house that isn't there in RL. I was hiding a whole bunch of rats in there. When I went to feed them, I was thinking of how I should put some of them in the big cage with Tidbit and Scrabbles, because they were all cramped up in a small aquarium. (I mean, litterally piled on top of each other, like 20 of them!) After I fed them I decided to get them out to play. While I was sitting there, it felt like one of them was underneath me. I quickly got up to find that I had been sitting on all of them, and they were all dead! I was searching for live ones when I had a false awakening. I was like "phwew, it was just a dream!" I went outside and caught a whole bunch of cats, then took them in the back room and but them in another aquarium next to the rats. (I should have realized it was a dream when all of those cats fit in that 1 gallon aquarium!) I also saw that I had rabbits. Then I noticed how cramped up the cats were, and decided to let them go. While they walked away, one of them SAID: "I'm never coming here again!" And I didn't even find it out of the ordinary! I don't remember what happened after that.

      I can't believe I didn't realize that was a dream!

Haha, I hate it when the most obivious things pop out at you and you never realize it. Anyone ever seen a naturally yellow bear in real life that talks, walks, and drinks coke? I haven't either, but I saw him last night and thought it was all normal.

dont be too hard on yourself.
its pretty uncommon to become lucid by just thinking 'this cant be real'.
it seems you are pretty new here, so welcome first of all!
thing is when people start recalling their dreams and the wholle lucid dream bit, they notice dreams can be really strange and feel bad for not relizing its a dream, while the dream is probably no different than hundreds more they had in the past.

Sadly, since I have never (repeat never) recognized my many dreams signs and become lucid, I have to rely on WILDS to become lucid.

I think the problem tends to slowly get better over time. I usually don't notice any either, although my dreams are usually very bizarre, but I managed to catch two this week.

One, I was trapped in the past (probably the 1950s or 60s) and noticed I was dreaming because the newspaper didn't post the date, and in another I noticed because I remembered that it would be impossible with today's technology to have nanomachines in my bloodstream that monitor my health and display numbers on my palm when they find any problems.
