I accessed a computer in a spontaneous LD...

I never actually wrote this down... it's still in my head, but I haven't recalled it for quite a while so it might be a bit rusty. About a month ago I had a pretty strange lucid dream, and it was spontaneous. I rarely have lucid dreams, but I've been trying to have them for quite a long time. Well, here's how I remember it.

The dream in the beginning was all messy and garbled, where I can't even remember it or explain it, but I have mixed images of thin old hallways with old designs, and being with a group of people following some sort of guide (a dream guide?). I think he had a black hat like this and the hallway was sort of like this, but not as tall and had no modern look.

Well, the next thing I remember is that in this one hallway there were doors spaced evenly across the left wall, and each went into a room. Every room was exactly the same, but the furniture was organized differently in each one. The furniture was also old, and it looked like this but the wood was darker. I only remember being in two rooms. The first one had a computer in it on the left, and I think there was another door in the back that led to yet another room. I never went in it though. I remember in my mind these images of people that were in these rooms... then I was in another room with a computer on the right side. I don't remember there being a back room in this one. I only saw the monitors of these computers, and they were CRTs that seemed kind of old and were beige.

Well, anyways, at that moment I just suddenly realized I was dreaming. There was no dream sign I recognized, and I don't know why it happened spontaneously, but I just knew. The first thing that I wanted to do was check and see what was on the computer. First off, the mouse was the most terrible mouse I could ever use. It was so uncomfortable, the track ball was so dirty, and it was hard to move the arrow. What blew my mind was that the screen was not distorted one bit. I remember the background had a Windows one, and I think it changed a couple times while I was on the computer. The one background I remember is the clouds one you see in Windows 98. Well, the desktop was pretty disorganized, icons were randomly positioned, but I didn't catch what they were. I brought up the start menu, and I saw sound files that had Windows Media Player 9 icons. I knew there was information on the computer, but I felt like anything could happen at any moment that would stop me from doing this. But nothing did, and around the time I was looking at the start menu I woke up. That's pretty much it.

I talked to my friend about this once, and he told me that supposedly those computers would have been knowledge banks, where my old memories are stored. He also said that some people see libraries instead, but that they're basically the same thing, and that some try to access these places in their dreams but some unknown force blocks them out. Any ideas?

First of all congratulations in getting the text/screen to stay still! I have tried but the words/icons etc. change

Maybe try 'creating'/modifying the computer (taking it apart or create a new one) that is specifically designed for accessing memories/dreams.

Or, an even better idea... how about you make/summon a CD ROM/USB/whatever to plug/insert into the computer that is entitled Memories, or DREAMS which has them 'on' there

Sounds like you missed a creative opportunity there, Starloch. You could have opened and played some of the music files, and who knows? Maybe it would have been "original" music. Many musicians have dreamt of new songs: Paul McCartney and Keith Richards, to name but two, the latter dreaming the riff to "Brown Sugar", according to himself.

Ive used a computer many many times in my dreams however, i either get stuck in the computer and cant move away from it, the computer buggers itself up or im trying to go on a certain website and i cant seem to type properly which is enoying!

Although i dont really have trouble with reading things in a dream, they seem to be rpretty consistant. And also whenever i here a voice from the TV or computer in my dreams its always distorted muffled. Meh?

Actually... I remember now that I was curious as to if there was music on the computer, and if it was any good at all. Kind of a weird thing to want to look for first, considering I knew I was dreaming. Maybe I just wasn't fully conscious. But I do like good music.

2Fruits: I'd love to try that, but I only have LDs once in a blue moon.
