      First Lucid Experience?

      Hey people
      I am new here
My host brother (user Out of the Blue) have been telling me for the last couple days about lucid dreaming. He has been doing some excercises and stuff, so I am constantly exposed to him telling us about his experiences.

Last night I was starting to sleep and I had a weird dream.
In the dream I was checking my Orkut (Some sort of MySpace from Google) and while I was reading my scraps, I first saw some kind of comics (like those from the newspaper), and I saw some girl's comments about weird stuff (something involving Canada)...I then realized that it might have been a dream, and knew I could control it. After that everything got blurried, as some sort of fog was surrounding me. I remembered my host brother told me that I could think about anything and it would materialize there, so I thought of a place, my high school. I felt excited about being able to control my dreams. Next thing I felt was that I was having goosebumps and that my skin was feeling like tighter. I thought that was happening because I was messing up my brain by trying to control the dream or something, and I ended up waking up.
I was shaky and with goosebumps...I just fell asleep again after that and didn't have any more dreams I could remember of.

Any tips/suggestion to make places/objects appear without getting too excited or freaked out?
      Any opinions about the dream?

      Thanks,

      Thiago Branco

Yo Thiago, welcome to the forums!

I don't think you can mess your brain up, like I mentioned earlier, so don't be afraid when luciding. But maybe someone on this forum who's actually been lucid before can answer your questions better than me.

      Lucid dreaming is perfectly harmfull

When i had mine, i found rubbing my hands together and looking at them made the dream stable and vidid. It got rid of the "fog"

      Hi.

Lucid dreaming won't mess up your brain.
Often, after lucid dreams there's almost a high type feeling. It's a great sensation, one that I love feeling after waking from a lucid dream. I don't get it all the time. Wish I did.

You wont damage your brain. The only thing lucid dreaming (or any alter to the psyche) can do is change your perseptions of your surroundings... you have nothing to fear.

...Unless you do end up fearing these newly aqquired perceptions rather than excepting them. Then you could go psychotic i guess...
