I can’t believe I’m finally saying this. I had my first lucid dream! :p

I was in the backseat behind the driver (where I always sat as a child) my parent’s old, red 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon. (I’m sure this part comes from the topic in the “Whispering Pines” forum, “What kind of vehicles did your parent’s drive?” The door of the car was missing on my side. I said to myself “I wonder if I’m dreaming?” so I look down at my both hands to do a reality check and my right hand has six fingers on it so I said to myself “I am dreaming!” When I look up from my hands, I am lucid and the sky is bright blue and ground is deep green and I say to myself “What am I going to do?” and I think “Fly out of the car into the sky!” So I take off and immediately lose the dream!! I don’t care that I lost the dream---I’m just so excited that I realized was dreaming and did a reality check and became lucid!

I think my mistake was that I became excited and immediately wanted to do something (fly) when I probably should have taken some time to explore my surroundings and stabilize the dream.
What do you all think? What I can do to maintain lucidity longer?
