      I have entered Tel'aran'rhiod

In other words, I had my first lucid dream. For those of you who don't know what the heck Tel'aran'rhiod is, it is the world of dreams, from the novel series The Wheel of Time, by Robert Jordan. I realized a couple of weeks ago when I stumbled accross this site, that the concept of Tel'aran'rhiod is based off of lucid dreaming, but of course, as you would expect from a fantasy series, it also differs in many ways. Anyway... About the dream...

I woke up... And was like "Oh crap, I didn't have any dreams." But then, I started to remember the dream I just had (this happens almost every morning when I wake up). Then I thought I should do a RC, so I could get in the habit of doing it when I woke up, in case I ever had a false awakening. I squeased my nose shut, but surprisingly, I could still breathe! I was excited! But, I tried to keep it under control, because I knew it could wake me up. I got up, and everything started to fade. I tried spinning and rubbing my hands at the same time, and it worked. I went outside, and the first thing that I tried (well, I might of told people that this was a dream, because I seemed to do that a lot) was to fly. I told my self I was a super hero, who had undergone genetic alterations. After a couple tries, it worked. I was flying Superman style, with my arms outstretched ahead of me. That bugged me. I didn't want to have to do that to fly. So, I tried putting my hands at my sides, but it didn't work. I thought, there are other super heroes who can fly without their arms outstretched, like... Batman! Oh wait... He can't fly... Wonder Woman! I tried again, and this time with my arms at my sides, and I flew! (I can't remember for sure if it worked on the first try) I remember flying around to random DCs, and telling them that this was a dream.

As I was flying, I suddenly thought, "I should try the lucid task of the month!" I told myself there was that grey, big city, just out of sight to the left. I turned a bit, and there it was, but I had forgot to think of the bridge. Darn! It couldn't be the same city without the bridge. I turned away, and told myself that there was a blue, ribbon-like bridge stretching accross the water to the city. I looked back and there was. I landed on it, but it wasn't very stable, probably because I told myself that it was ribbon-like. I slid on it to the city. Then I started flying around to see what the city was like. There was a thing in the middle of the city. It looked like a huge, bulging, metal smokestack that was all twisted in knots, with no tall section sticking up out of it. More amazingly, though, there were a few dinosaurs. I remember seeing a triceratops, and another dinosaur that my subconcious must have made up, and called, a Nyriasaurus (NIGH-ree-ah-saurus) (I'm pretty sure that's what it was. I practiced the name in the dream a few times so that I would remember). It was very similar to a triceratops. I don't remember if it had horns, but the large plate-thing behind it's neck, unlike a triceratops, was folded foward in half, and kind of bent in a u shape around the back of the head. I went down to examine a couple of Nyriasaurus but they started mating (although looking back, it didn't look like mating at all). I got grossed out and left.

I started flying around again (no longer in the city). I saw a slightly overweight, older, greying woman watering her garden. I went over to her and asked, "What would you do if I told you that you were fat?" She sprayed me with the hose. Then a completely random thought came to my head: "I've always wanted to fly up, grab a power line, and swing around it!" Don't ask me where the heck that came from, because I don't even know myself. Anyway, I flew toward a nearby power line... And opened my eyes. Crap! I woke up. Maybe not... RC... Crap! I am awake.

So, that was my dream. I remeber when I was still in my room, I examined the walls, and rememeber thinking that they looked pretty realistic, but thinking back, it doesn't seem very vivid. Oh well. Hopefully my vividness will improve.

Beat my subconcious senseless with a pointed stick

LOL! Serves you right for being mean to old ladies!

As for the vividness, you're right.. that should improve as your experience with lucid dreaming grows.

      Well done!

Congradulations! That was extremely good for your first lucid!

Clarity is right, with practice your vividness in dreams will increase.

Yeah. I would never do something like that in real life. Must be the same dream logic that made me feel that I'd always wanted to swing aroung a power line...

I was thinking the exact same thing abot tel'aran'rhiod right after i foound this site. It's like jordan used the angreal as an instant way to get a lucid dream. The only difference is that in the book you can converse with other ppl in the lucid state. If only that could work. Maybe someday...

That and if you get stabbed or something, you don't wake up with a wound, and if you die in a dream, you don't die in real life.
