Being lucid for a few seconds with my eyes open.. just before waking up

a few nights ago I was falling asleep and was gettingvisuals and a story line going on in front of my eyes..... I cant recall at all, and even right then couldnt recall what I was seeing but a thought popped into my head that told me I was falling asleep and I should try opening my dream eyes..
so Slowly and heavily i pulled my eyes open.. and was inmy dark room..
I started hearing creepy noises and small short "creatures" or midgets or what i thought was the devil at the moment shuffling behind my dreesser.

I think i was in SP because i could barely move ..then i moved my eyes to my covers and saw a cat with gnarly teeth inching towards me and creepying the shit out of me (im afraid of cats haha).. as I tried soo hard to reach towards the cat i layed pefectly still.. then the sounds went away. the visuals dissapeared. my room was still dark But i was awake.

Instead of opening my dream eyes i actually opened my real life eyes and was in this dream state with my eyes open for about 5-6 seconds!

      trippy huh

Sounds like hypnogogic imagery. There's a better article than that somewhere...

What you have just described is what happens to me alot. You were probably letting your mind wander and then your body started falling asleep because it thought you were asleep and then you entered sleep paralysis consciously. At first i didn't like this at all but now i use this to my advantage because at this point you are very close to lucidity. Because this happens to me alot i thought of a technique that i thought would work very well for me and possibly for you if you can get to this state easily. Read this.
