      First WILD (unintentional)

So I've noticed that I can come close to WILD'ing on a fairly regular basis only I cant follow through all the way. Well, today I go and take a nap and as I begin to get close to falling asleep I hear a noise in my ears, its kind of like something is closing in or a static kind of noise its very hard to explain. Usually I can hear this for about 3 seconds and then I end up coming out of this deeper state of consciousness because I realize its happening and I get too excited. In the past I'd say that i've achieved this state of deeper consciousness (while still being awake) at least 50-75 times but never successfully wild'ing.

Well, today I heard that same noise and it lasted about 5-8 seconds and I remained in this deeper state of consciousness. FINALLY I heard a ladies voice that sounded like it was coming over a radio broadcast and I knew there was nothing of this sort in my room, I'm shocked that I didn't wake up right then from the excitement. Needless to say, I found myself in my bed (in my dream of course) and did the usual reality check/try to gain more control.

The lucid dream was a decent length about 5 minutes or so my longest being around 10-15. All I can say is if you don't have a lot of control over your lucid dreams don't attempt to do a 15 foot back flip over a fence to show up a fellow dream character. It made me wake up

I need to start with some simpler things to try and make my lucidity last longer cause I always end up going straight for flying or something of that sort.

Well, although you unfortunately lost the dream, it sounds like you are getting somewhere, and frankly, are a hell of alot farther along than others who struggle alot...myself to some degree. Anywhoo, I would follow your normal sleep schedule, and since you say you've had a few HI (hypnagogic imagery)experiences, you know you have the ability to get to some stage of a wild, but apparently not all the way. I reccomend, since DILD works better for you to wake up at about 5-6 hours through your night of sleep, and lay there, just see what happens, no technique in mind, just be passive about it...know that it can happen if you want it to. You can visualize a lucid dream...and let yourself sink in with your goals in mind...try different things and explore...i feel that's the best way...

      Enjoy the journey

yeah, ive been having WILDs lately, and i dont use any certain technique. i just wake up in the morning, and then go back to sleep while thinking about lucid dreaming. i wind up in the dream i was thinking about. happens in like 10 minutes.

LOL!! I'll try to remember that!

Very true! Time for my little speech :

If you're new to lucid dreaming, I advise that you don't try to set the lucid world on fire your first few dreams.. don't try to do tricks, summon people, etc. Simply go with the flow and take it all in. Get used to what being lucid FEELS like so you can ground yourself in your dreams.. that's when the tricks/stunts can happen.

Your first few dreams simply act like a tourist in a new place.. go sightseeing and take in all the different colors and sounds. You may try to increase your vividness by confidently stating aloud "increase lucidity" or "clarity now" but that would be the extent of control I would recommend for struggling dreamers.

I know when I first become lucid, I too have to fight that initial rush of adrenalin. I do this by telling myself to calm down, breathing naturally (or a little slower) and I try to "ground" myself in the dream (i.e., make it as lucid as it can be) instead of immediately racing to do something before I lose lucidity.

One of the tricks I use to "ground" myself is to "touch" things. By touching.. I mean really "feeling" them. Get into how they feel.. are they hot, cold, smooth, rough, etc. (this also increases the vividness of the dream along with helping me remain in it longer).

Also, there is no "try" when you're lucid.. only "do". You must KNOW that there is nothing you can't have nor perform while in your dream.

Just remember that "the deeper the level of lucidity.. the better your lucid experience should be".

I like how you phrased that as being a 'tourist', I think I'm just going to go walk around and try to get as much control as possible.... see how everything works and operates fully since I know that simply turning around can change the environment I was just in...

I know that I'm 'God' in my dreams, since in that lucid dream the other day I left out the fact that when I went towards that fence there were police and for a second I was worried they'd freak out that I was flying.. but then I realized who cares about them, this is all about me

Also, I thought of a better way to explain that noise I hear in my ears... if your driving in your car at about 30 miles an hour and you stick your head out the window, its that sound of wind rushing by... when I enter that deeper state of consciousness I get a sound very similar to this (but still not quite), it feels like there is a pressure difference as well as that sound... I'm just glad that getting that far is fairly easy for me, it happens almost everytime. If I take a nap and wake up at some point during the nap and go back to bed (usually almost immediately) I can enter that deeper state of consciousness I'd say 95% of the time, this was just the first time I actually didn't snap out of it.
