      First Lucid!

(this was in my dream journal, its a copy + paste)

The Demolishing Attempted Tea Party of the Demon Child
I was in a pink room at this... tea party or something for a little girl. I was asked an absurb question and it snapped in, I was dreaming! I felt a rush of anxiety, and prepared to have fun. First I tried lighting that little girl on fire... but my fire was small and pixelated- and it went out. So I wanted some help, so tried summoning my dream guide but that failed too. I remember someone was by me though, it was probably a dream character... after this, I had to put away her ponies in another room ... I went outside the room and they vanished and I was in the hall of my school. I summoned my favorite book character (Achilles ) but... it wasn't what I had planned. He was amazing from the back, armour and all, but when he turned around he was old, wrinkly, and bearded. I started laughing, and told the person by me that he was better looking when he was 20 (quietly xP). But this makes no sense that he was old-- as he died at 20ish... Oh well, my first lucid so of course there will be issues. I kinda ditched him cause he was fugly and tried to make a portal in the sky to somewhere, but it was a dud. I wasn't tall enough, first, and when I tried a second one it shoved me back out. So I went to the lunch room in my school and sat down with some friends, thats when I realized I was becoming nonlucid. I quickly snapped back into it, but in another minute I had lost it and was a slave of my unconcious again.

Oh, if anyone has info on why my dream malfunctioned please post.

Lol, just a sidenote of a previous dream. Apparently my body likes sleep, because when my alarm to wake me from a dream went off I had a WILD dream where I was writing in my dream journal beside my bed, and wrote down what my previous dream was. Then I set it down, and "went to sleep" in my dream. I woke up and looked in my journal and expected to see it in the morning-- I was just like WHAT? Dang, I missed a lucid!

Musical Soul, congratulations on your first lucid dream!

For all those new to lucid dreaming, I advise that you don't try to set the lucid world on fire your first few dreams.. don't try to do tricks, summon people, etc. Simply go with the flow and take it all in. Get used to what being lucid FEELS like so you can ground yourself in your dreams.. that's when the tricks/stunts can happen.

Your first few dreams simply act like a tourist in a new place.. go sightseeing and take in all the different colors and sounds. You may try to increase your vividness by confidently stating aloud "increase lucidity" or "clarity now" but that would be the extent of control I would recommend for struggling dreamers.

I know when I first become lucid, I have to fight that initial rush of adrenalin. I do this by telling myself to calm down, breathing naturally (or a little slower) and I try to "ground" myself in the dream (i.e., make it as lucid as it can be) instead of immediately racing to do something before I lose lucidity.

One of the tricks I use to "ground" myself is to "touch" things. By touching.. I mean really "feeling" them. Get into how they feel.. are they hot, cold, smooth, rough, etc. (this also increases the vividness of the dream along with helping me remain in it longer).

Also, there is no "try" when you're lucid.. only "do". You must KNOW that there is nothing you can't have nor perform while in your dream.

Just remember that "the deeper the level of lucidity.. the better your lucid experience should be".

So it's your first lucid EVER? How cool is that!! CONGRATULATIONS!! ^_^

Being your first one, you fared VERY well, according to myself. I mean, you summoned someone and made fire. I barely care if it didn't go that well. I've never summoned anyone y my life! And i have LDs since i was about 7 years old (that i remember).

Of course, you should mark Clairity's words carefully. She knows what she's talking about.

I don't know how you managed to "survive" your rush of anxiety in your first lucid. I think your lucidity lasted quite long, since you didn't even try to "anchor" yourself.

You should touch something, or watch something carefully till it becomes very clear. And improve your lucidity. Just paying attention to my own consciousness does the trick for me. I have to do it slowly, or i get ejected (i wake up).

In other words, mind your dream, and mind your mind. There should be a balance. Too much dream, and you lose lucidity. Too much mind and you wake up. Well, at least i do.

I never tried to improve those two by spells, but if Clairity says it works, i believe her. I'll try it next time i have a LD if i remember.

Imagine you say "Clarity now", and you accidentally summon Clairity's mouth! =P

Beware, in a LD you can summon bad things accidentally. If you think of something bad, it can happen. If you doubt you can do something, probably it won't come out right.

Sometimes i'm lucky. I think "Oh, crap, i'm in doubt, it won't work...", and yet it does work. And i'm happy. ^_^

Like when i made the sun rise in a dark night. I mean, i never could switch the lights on in a room, and rising the sun seemed quite difficult, and i doubted, but it worked! It was difficult indeed though.

So, congratulations again on your first LD. I wish you many many more!
Habilities: fly, pass through things, taste, touch, pain, dare, hear music, breath under water, heal, wake up...

Wish to: Summon people, teleport/switch environment, read a long text, fly higher than about 1 kilometer, fly quicker than about 200 km/h, 360 vision, freeze time, time travel, transform into beasts, go to the moon, go into deep space, fire portals...

Thats great advice- thanks both of you!

I guess the only reason I really rushed into it was because I had been reading about what people did in their dreams for so long and simply got into expectancy these things came naturally. Thats overpowered confidence, though I can't say thats a bad thing, and expecting it all to happen without doubt. I remember when trying to call my dream guide I thought "I doubt they even exist... I wonder if it will work" and such, same with my portal, but with the summoning it was basicly no doubt in my mind.
I don't know why I decided to make fire as soon as I was first lucid.. lol that seems kind of stupid ;P

Anyhow, I'll enhance my lucidity next time first and sight see a bit more too. I'll go talk to DC's and such and get a feeling for them. I don't think I'll have a problem much with length though, it seemed naturally simple to me. I went lucid until the end of the dream, or about a minute from the end. Though I can't promise this time around I won't attempt to float or fly... anyhow, thanks~!

Yes, i've thought about that... I mean, it's like two slightly contradictory advice: "start with something little and be patient", and "have no doubt"/"anything is possible". I mean, if you're confident, why start with something little??

Actually it has happened to me to be in doubt of something working, yet it did work anyway, and vice versa.

Perhaps someone who reads the advices of this forum prior to his first LD is better off than a natural, who has vices (so to speak) to correct. Like a buddhist monk being told to empty his cup, or a martial artist being told to unlearn what he has learned.

Thanks! I've written that in a "to do list" in a dream journal i've started in my Pocket PC. It's cool. It has Pocket Word, in wich i can write and record with the mic. So when i wake up right after a dream i can record instead of writting.
