Give me a hand figuring out these frightening Lucid Dreams.

Hi guys! I'm here to ask for some help and relate an experience I had...I found myself very frightened after waking and it was not all that pleseant of a lucid experience...Below is an entry I copied and pasted from my dream journal.

Any ideas on how to ease the transition into a full WILD or lessen the "nightmarishness" of the experience will be much appreciated. I felt potential, but just couldn't "grab it" in this set of LD's.

      12/4/07 Tuesday Afternoon nap

Folks, I decided to have a go at lucidity this afternoon since in the past, something interesting and notable has almost always occured during a nap.
I got my eye-mask, my ear-plugs cuddled up and began a WILD attempt.

      Trapped in "the void"...SP/Lucid

-I am in a void...I can't tell what's going on, I know I'm not "with-it" and I know I'm somewhere in between waking and dreaming. I recall laying down resolved to attempt a task. As I'm in this void, every so often, I feel like my head is smacked against a wall...and there are bright flashes of light and a loud noise...like an internal explosion. I figure, "Ah, it's just part of the ride"..and each time I fight off the urge not to wake myself up. length of event=3-5 minutes

      Nightmarish forest clearing Lucid(?)

-I don't know how I got here, I know it's somewhat of a dream.. I'm not that much further along than in the previous dream/SP episode, but I "know"/see that I'm in a forested clearing...it seems to resemble a video game such as "Half-life 2"...It seems that I'm blind most of the time, bordering on entering the dream and fighting off the violent explosions going on in my head. I am still fully aware and trying to engage. I recall using every ounce of my strength to wander over to an overpass going over this clearing...I feel the walls and for some reason they feel like sand..solid sand. This is not a pleasent lucidity...I have a nightmarish feeling, knowing that there are faces looking at me in theis faint dreamscape and creatures ready to pounce...I try to think of a task but for some reason only Moonbeam comes to mind...I try to summon her but the explosions in my head (by now, violent pains in my head...is the only way I can describing) are too strong and I don't want to continue this scene. I let myself wake to SP..slightly. Length of event=3-4 minutes

*These kind of sequences felt terrifying..my heart is still pounding..I recall going out of similar scenes dozens of times but I didn't enjoy this...At least I saw there was potential with my napping.

*The series of nightmarish SP experiences and intense fear ended with this

      Backyard Face distortion...lucid

-I dreamed, lucid again, I was laying in bed looking out the window, my vision kept zooming in to this one spot where there was a circular shape. It was in the trees and it was nightime. The dream proceeded like this, zooming in and out until as it got close enough I could see it was a face. My view went in once more with me knowing something terriying was bound to appear out there in my backyard and soon it did. On the last "zoom" I saw a horribly disfigured face, faintly, but it was there, glowing while everything else was covered in pitch darkness. I heard a roaring in my ears and had this image in front of my eyes for another few seconds, forced by some unknown force to keep looking at it (similar to my childhood nightmares) and soon woke. Length of event=30 second-1 minute

      * I remember absolute terror and seriously contemplating yelling "mom" ...

*Though I don't know exactly what occured, I know all of this was bits of SP and bits of lucid dreams..in and out and all jumbled up...At times I had FA's where I'd see "things" in the room. As I saw these "things" I'd be paralyzed (part of SP?) and forced back into the restless void I described...I hope to be able to take control of this!

*I'm going to try napping perhaps more now or tommorow...Now I know napping increases my chances of an LD...I know I can overcome this If I can just figure out what it is

My advice is to use mental tricks to shove you the rest of the way or just stabilize it. You seem to be physically fine, (judging by the clarity of HI) but You just need to jump your mental hurdles (which can often be really easy) by thinking on your feet and focusing on solving any problems that arise. If you have a problem, find a creative way to solve it =)

Use some sort of trick to get you out of there. The first solution that came to my mind was to have a giant hand come from nowhere and take you away. Other thoughts on escape: rip a whole in the fabric of reality and fall through it, find a door in the wall behind you....

Now, this probably sounds a little crazy.. but what I'd do in this situation is rebel =P Just fight it. Knock down that wall. It feels like it should be sand? Pummel it down to that. Bright flashes in your head? Send em right back. Fight fire with fire. Exert dominance. =)

Moonbeam in your head? Channel her a few of the flashes to get her attention. Get her interested enough to come help you out.

Slightly crazy, but it seems to work a good portion of the time.

Again, I can't overstate how important it is for you to be able to think on your feet here. Tell yourself that it's just a head on the top of a totem pole or just a kid with some stupid Halloween mask.

Hey thanks Arby! Good approach.. And it doesn't sound crazy, perhaps I have been too passive.

my only concern is that I don't have enough control to be able to spawn any of those solutons..but I may very well have it...I'll give some of what you said a try in my next attempt. Hopefully it won't end up coming to any of that though.

Hahahh, "pummel that wall!" You're awesome!..you're approach may very well be one I should adopt .. Eh, I'll post with any results.

The control is in no way out of your reach. The control I'm using here is passive control as defined by billy here. He describes very well what it really entails and what its all about.

That's a good idea! I'll help you, bro!

Seriously those dreams that start out or turn bad are so hard to deal with, I know what you mean.

It seems to me like when I try something and have that invincible "knowing that it will work feeling", it always does--but if there is the slightest bit of doubt, or I hesitate for an instant, it doesn't. I wish I knew how to always have the confidence. Just keep practicing, that's all I knowto do. Look at the bad ones as opportunities to to do that and build experience.

      They do suck tho.

      Hey Moonbeam,

You're right..and I have noticed success by going in with a "This is all under my control, nothing can frighten or control me" attitude, I get better results..it's a mater of eliminating that doubt though.

It's always easy to kick yourself after the fact, which is what i'm doing right now, but while you're in one of those fightening/stumped situations it's hard to "act on your feet".

Arby, I like your ideas though as I said, working with whatever is given to you and finding a way to make what you want happen...good thinking.

Hehe and it's good to know "Tyler" is out there to help take down some horrifying faces and predators...among other things.
