I woke up so excited this morning as I realized I was aware I was in a dream last night. I don't remember everything about the dream, but I'll post as much as I can to share the dream.
I was at a house somewhere and I think I and some others were trying to figure out how to get MaryAnn (my sister-in-law) outside, but she was unconscious. We already had a blanket to use to carry her out on, but for some reason, I felt we needed something to hold her besides the blanket. I was looking at some fairly long sticks that were shaped somewhat like 'y' so we could place her on them and lift her with the sticks. I had one, but needed more. There was a very long one inside the front room, and as I was manuvering that one around, it went nearly to the ceiling. It hit a family picture of Bill and Cathy and family (more in-laws that live the closest without being in the same house). The picture was the only one on the plain white walls and was okay after I hit it. I was going to break that stick, but it was floppy, not a firm solid stick. I put down the stick for a moment because I had to go to the bathroom. I went into the bathroom and it was actually more of a normal one. As I was on it, I felt the way I do when I'm on my period, and when I looked, the discharge was clear, rather than red.
"I'm having a dream!" I realized and said out loud. A came into the bathroom with me and started asking me about a problem she had, but I told her I could only handle one thing at a time. Though I knew I was dreaming, I wanted to complete the task that the dream had given me, rather than having any fun with it. I woke up before I could do either.
Even though I knew I was dreaming, I really wanted to think through the problem and get it solved. That is a bit of how I am in waking life. This, to me, is a step up from the other lucid I'd had. Or it could be a step back. I'm not really sure. The other one I'd had, I knew I was dreaming from the start. I tried to explore where I was, but it faded after a few steps. I thought myself back to the start and it came back just as it was at the beginning. I walked a little further than I did the first time, and it faded again. Back to the beginning I send myself. It repeats, this time I go a few steps more, but it fades again, this time for good.
I'm not sure if this was a step forward or back, but I'm thrilled that I recognized in the dream that it was a dream. It figures that the realization came in the bathroom. It's not something that happens in every dream, but just enough that it's one of my dream signs I recognize.
I just wanted to share my excitement at getting lucid last night.
