      My First Lucid Dream

For about 3 months i had been practicing the basic look at the hands method and then one night in my dream i was walking down a sidewalk and i looked at my hands and then said out loud "i am dreaming". From that point on i started running and jump into the air, just beginning to fly when i was awaken by the morning sun.

Nice, though I'll never understand how people can fly in their first LD, I'm up to my 5th and still grappling to gain control of basic things when I manage to LD

      You'll get there eventually.

I've been flying in my dreams since I was a little kid, Although even so I've only recently shed the need to move my arms and legs like I'm swimming in the air.

I think the kinds of fiction and such that your interested in in real life can help with control. I've found that myself and some friends who are complete nerds and love sci-fi and fantasy stuff have a lot of dreams with flying and other crazy stuff, while the rest of my family who are more into drama and romance and such seem to have dreams more grounded in reality.

The more acceptable your subconscious finds a particular impossible act, the easier it will be to achieve. I think thats how it works anyway.

I think it's that RC where you look at your hands and count your fingers or check the colours or whatever. I suppose coupling that with the statement "I am dreaming" could work.

All you do is look at your hands flat out infront of you about twice an hour and when it happens in your dream you will notice something is different and then you realize your sleeping.

Your last paragraph, I couldn't have said it better myself
