      Dream Character Insanity

Hello all, this is my first new topic, I hope you find it interesting.

Recently I had an LD that began as a false awakening. When I realized it was in fact a dream I got out of my dream bed and walked out into my rec room (my bedroom is in the basement). After looking around for a few minutes and observing my dream environment, I saw my dad sitting at the computer. I walked towards him and proceeded to ask what it was like to be a character in a dream.

The experience that followed was so creepy that I had to wake myself up.

At first he just smirked very oddly at me and began to chuckle. Slightly confused, I asked again. Then he appeared to mouth the words to a response but there was no audible sound coming from his mouth. That kinda freaked me out and I started to back off. He stared at me with a very evil-looking smile and started to laugh.

I know it sounds kinda comical, but believe me, it definitely was not.

One of my friends who is also a member of this forum had a similar experience when he asked a character in his dream what it was like to be a dream character. Apparently that character also appeared to go insane.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? I'd like to hear your stories, experiences and input.

That does sound kinda creepy... Very interesting too.

I don't think I've experienced something like that. I really haven't conversed with dream characters much. I like shooting fire and stuff. Maybe I won't ever talk to them...

But what I would suggest is making them dissappear or something. Don't let something in your dream frighten you into leaving it. Assert yourself... be like: "Stop going crazy or I'll... I'll... turn you into a can of chicken soup!!" If all else fails, use fire.

I need to sleep... Good luck! (use fire)

I've just started to try LDing, since I joined the site, and I haven't been successful yet.. but I remember from past LDs, I would tell little kids that they were dream characters. They'd just get really shocked and say, "Really???" So, next time you LD, go up to a kid instead. lol It might not be freaky.

Yeah, I've had this. It wasn't from telling them they were dream characters but from merely saying, "I'm dreaming!" (which implies it.) Anyways, this only lasted for like my first couple of LDs. From what I remember the first involved my friend grabbing me by the throat and slamming me against the wall, the second my family said they were going to sacrifice me, and the third involved a dream character asking to come back to the real world as a split personality

I remember one lucid dream (maybe my very first...I'm not sure) I had when I was about 18, set when I was about 14, where I tried to explain to my mom's bf that I was really dreaming all this four years in the future. He just kind got surly and contradicted me, which was typical of our real life conversations.

Another time I was with friends, and when I told them I was dreaming, they all thought I was drunk, so I levitated a few feet and my friend Dave was like, "huh, maybe he is dreaming."

Those were more free-associations with your topic than replies I guess...
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama
