Slow Motion in my lucid dream (I had lastnight)

      Hey all,

Just wanted to ask what slow motion is all about. I've had them in the past with nightmares and other non-lucid dreams.

In the dream I had last night. I randomly knew I was dreaming, but I wanted to have some fun and beat someone up but I coudn't. I tried punching a dream character but everything went super slow. I tried multiple times believing it would be fast, but it didn't work!

Reasons would be great, thank you in advance.

I've been wondering this myself! It happens to me sometimes in lucid dreams. It appears that it might be happening to me when I try too hard, but I'm not sure.

In my first LD, I think while I was walking towards a window, I was walking in slow motion, but I took no notice

I get slow-motion in normal dreams, and it is a good dream sign for me now.

I've never experienced this in a lucid - though probably will now!

For myself, these kinds of situations occur when I don't spend much time focusing or thinking on what should occur while out and about in the waking world.

The first rule of behavioral science is that you get more of what you reinforce.

So in your specific case spend some time day dreaming about what you expect when you hit someone.

I would also recommend that you can gain some additional clarity on this "reinforcement" by using image streaming techniques by Win Wenger.

It won't be long before you can kick people's heads off and make them move in slow motion intead of you (until it gets boring and its time to do more interesting and constructive things in your dreams). I had the same problem once.
