      Unalbe to Read Words...

I have been able to have 'lucid' dreams since I was fairly young. Over the years I have become a little better but after reading some of the ideas on this website I've learned that the reason why my lucid dreams usually end shortly after beginning is because I get frustrated or too excited. I'm only mentioning this because this is the first I've actually read about other people having these kind of dreams where you have control over what happens or what you can do. To the point of the subject: even up until the most recent dream I can remember, anytime I have found text I've wanted to read it has been unreadable. It used to just be undreadable symbols which could have been russian for all I knew. Later on the words were actually made of letters from the alphabet but they were still scrambled . I have no idea why this happens. Maybe it is something person or maybe this has happens to other people i ntheir dream.

The part of your mind that figures out words, letters, and number is turned off. Not all the way, it is possible to read in your dreams, but it's rare. Lots of times what you think you read is something that in waking life you would think of nothing but smudges, but your mind inserts the meaning into your brain. Not being able to read can actually be a pretty effective dream sign.

unable to read text in dreams

I don't really care that I can't read words in my dreams. It just makes me curious that i've never been able to do it. it has been an easy sign i'm dreaming but, over the last couple years i can usually tell right away or i'm in a different state of sleep and i can't tell at all

Sometimes you can, mostly you can't. Like Ninja said, portions of your brain go dorment during sleep in order to conserve energy, so even though you can be fully concious in an LD, it is still unlikely for you to have all of your wakeing reasoning and creative skills.

i found the key to reading something in your dream is to "know" what you are reading. and then see it, this goes a long with dream control because you tell yourself what you are reading.

i usually only have success when i am dreaming and i look at my computer to see what time it is, at first it is scrambled but just for fun i tell myself it is "4:20" and mentally image it. i don't know if this like awakens part of your brain temporarily or what but it does seem to work for me.
