Okay so, the other night, I had two nightmares. Both of them lasted what seemed like less than a minute, I'm not sure. Anyhow, it's not so much the subject of the dreams, it was this unbearable physical feeling I had.
So, in the first dream, I was sitting on a chair in what appeared to be a living room, with an a man who looked about 40. While I was sitting there, I had a feeling something bad would happen, so I decided I would get up and walk home. But, of course, as I was about to get up, the man threw me onto the couch beside me, and got on top of me and pinned me down. As soon as he got on top of me, obviously I was terrified, and I got this weird, intense, almost painful feeling in my sides. (The best way I could describe this feeling, would be to find those sensitive 'ticklish' spots of your sides, and press your fingers into them and wiggle them around. It felt like that except much more intense; not exactly painful, but very VERY uncomfortable.) Anyway, at that point I was aware I was dreaming and just waited out this feeling, trying to force myself to wake up. It only took a few seconds. Shortly after I had woken up, I went back to sleep. Then, came the second dream.
In the second dream, I was sitting in the back seat of a car that was parked at an Elementary School. There was nobody in the drivers seat, I was simply sitting alone in the back seat. Suddenly, the car started going forward rapidly as if a ghost was driving the car. In a panic, I tried to open the car doors, but of course, they were locked. Then once again, I felt that unbearable feeling in my sides. At this point, like in the first dream, I became lucid and forced myself to wake up.
I interpreted these dreams as my mind simply expressing a feeling of helplessness, and lack of control, when it came to a certain situation I was stressing over in real life.
But anyway, another thing that struck me as interesting, is when I woke up from both dreams, I was having an anxiety attack. It wasn't as if I woke up and started having one because of how intense the dream was, but when I woke up, it was already in progress.
Could that feeling I experienced in my sides be an anxiety attack I was having in real life?
Can you even have anxiety attacks while you are sleeping?
Thanks for reading,
