Exclamation Problems with realising and being scared

Umm hi, I have been having dreams over the past few weeks but I keep thinking (whilst in the dream) that it is reality . This then causes me to not want to do anything such as jump out of a window because I don't want to think it is a dream and then realise it is not half way out of a window!!!

Any suggestions because I try reality checks but they usually fail but I am dreaming, (yer I am kinda weird)

All suggestions will be welcomed with arms wide open

      Speak soon

      Yoshu

Seems to me like you are questioning the dream state then? If you are processing thoughts of "This is not a dream so I cannot do..."

What you should try to do here is rather think about what you cannot do, this about what you can. So if for example you are in town, or somewhereexamine the scenario and look for flaws to confirm you are dreaming. If you say RCs are not working for you then you can look around your environment and notice errors here - as good as our minds are they usually make a mistake.

Example: If you are in a park and you see a bench - examine it, look away then back at it again, and it will likely be different - or try maybe feeling water or something, because it doesn't always feel the same in a dream - hot and cold are sometimes hard to feel as well.

Just out of interest what RCs are failing you?

      Adam.

The way i usually fixed problems of a similar nature was whenever i do a reality check and it fails (when i'm awake) I would remind myself of what i wanted to fix. For awhile when i started lucid dreaming I never took the time to establish clarity, so whenever i performed reality checks i told myself if i WAS dreaming the first thing i would do is attempt to clarify the dream as much as possible (usually by shouting out "clarify!").

In your case, maybe along with performing reality checks, remind yourself that if you were in fact dreaming you would be completely safe and invulnerable and imagine yourself jumping out a window and what that would feel like in a dream.

Also, if reality checks are failing in dreams, maybe make it a habit to try as many different kinds of reality checks during the day. that way when you RC in a dream your mind doesn't know what to expect. Never tried it myself, but maybe it will help ^^

if anything i say doesn't make any sense don't hesitate to yell at me to clarify!
Paprika: Don't you think dreams and the Internet are similar? They are both areas where the repressed conscious mind vents.

John Lennon: I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now? Reality leaves a lot to the imagination.

Hey, yer, the problem I am having is that I cannot tell wether I am awake or not ... but I'm in my room, and if I start crashing about ti's going to annoy everyone if I am awake

The RC's that are failing are 'Holding nose and brething' and 'Putting hand through a wall'

Any suggestions now would be really appreciated because I'm going to bed in like 2 hours.

      Thanks, Yoshu

      This is what I do:

If you are in your room then look for objects you know should be there. If you cannot find them you are dreaming, if you find them then you are awake.

If you are not in your room then you are dreaming anyway

try looking in a mirror, mirrors rarely work in dreams

Everything makes sense once you stop thinking about it

key word in the whole process...AWARENESS AWARENESS AWARENESS. dont passively perform ur reality checks. take the effert to really be aware of ur surroundings, and be highly observant. the best reality check usually for me, is to find something short to read, like a sub-heading or a sentence of some sort, look away for a few seconds, than look bak and see if the words have changed. repeat a few times and if the words do change, u can be sertain u r dreaming.
