      Unhappy New lucid dreamer

I'm new to lucid dreaming and I need help because I'm having trouble starting a lucid dream. I have dreams but I just watch them go by. I would take control but I can't... it feels like I can't realize that I'm dreaming. I do reality checks more than 15 times a day but I dont do it in my dream. I tried WILDs too but I cant concentrate long enough until I go to sleep. Can anyone help me?!?!?!?

      What methods have you tried?

I found doing multiple WBTB's (and sleeping over my boyfriend's instead of my own place), and going to bed early, managed to get me out of a dry spell. With WBTB's, you can remind yourself in the night as you wake up that you will soon be dreaming again. The memory of having fallen asleep may surface in your dream and help you realize you're dreaming. They hadn't been working for me for a while, but I think they were too routinized, and I was too afraid of losing sleep.

Maybe doing something different on the night you want to LD will help too.

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.

Just keep trying; and don't stress out too much about it. Relax and take it as it is.

Also keeping a dream journal really helps a ton; and also that way if you don't have a lucid dream you can still enjoy the dreams you had.

Try to find your dreamsigns, and reality check whenever you see them; also reality check if there's anything out of place.

Just don't give up! You'll get there eventually!

      Thanks!

Thank you for giving me tips. I didn't know that I would get a response so quickly. I will keep trying to LD and start keeping a journal. I'll try to LD every night even if it feels somewhat hopeless. I know I have to believe I can do it or it will never work. I feel very confident that I will LD very soon!
