      New Flying technique

well its new for me since none of the others ever worked

what i do is i kinda jump but can never actually fly so this morning while lucid

i was floating and i kinda pushed my hands behind me as if i was in outer space floating around and had to fly in a certain direction

it helped me go to where i wanted and i turned my hands the opposite direction and pushed to stop or slow down

      good luck everyone else

Hmm interesting. I bet you couldn't go very fast though.

Try this: Imagine an aura around you that's solid (make it any color you like ) and make it carry you around while you're encased in it. It works great for me and I can go really fast. Can't get enough of flying lol.

That sounds awesome. I'm a little jealous.

Sometimes I can do that but most of the time if I try the wind blows me back down or something.

I just jump into the air and float. Then, I kick my legs and move my arms like I'm swimming.

However, I haven't been able to "fly high into space," just in my house and occasionally outside above the houses and mountians.

I like Squall's idea of making a solid around you, sounds like it could get you around pretty fast.

I just run, jump, and do the "superman thing." I works except when I am scared of something, then I struggle to fly and float back down. I can't go too high, because I am afraid of heights. Maybe I could use my lucid dreams to overcome this somehow...

There are a few ways I fly when in a lucid dream...one is start running then jump and imagine yourself flying..xD...The other is to get a baloon/kite/ something that floats and think of the wind being really strong...One more one is that I just say out loud in the LD 'LOOK! I'm flying!' and that somethings helps..xD

Seeker brought up a good one a while ago, look at an object in the distance and then let it pull you to it! I tried it with the moon, it got disorienting when I started to get close because I was moving so fast it balloned in front of me and then it was like I was diving head first at the ground, turning myself around got me all dizzy =)

Another way is suggested by the hitchikers guide to the galaxy, one of the most incredible books to have ever been published.

The trick falling and then missing the ground. Dont think to yourself "Oh my god im flying" because thats impossible, and gravity might then notice you hovering about and promtply put an end to it, just let it happen, dont think about it... think about lemurs... or something else that your not quite sure about, its like moving a muscle...

Look at your hand and move your pointer finger... easy right? Now try to isolate the thoughts and actual commands in your mind that made your finger move... I havent found it out yet...If you try to think your finger to move it wont, but if you jsut move it theres nothing easier.

If you are trying to think about flying like trying to isolate what it is you have to do you will not find it, its like moving your finger, it just kinda happens, so stop thinking so hard about it and just let yourself fly.

While the superman is fun, I still prefer my wings

If you find you can change your shape in your dreams but cant do the superman start of simply as a bird. If you find your having trouble still watch birds in flight in the waking world, look up how a bird flies, what muscles are involved, when you Know how they fly and you have watched them take off, land and what not, that knowledge will remove the doubt in your mind that is anchoring you to the ground, and then you will fly as the birds do.

Or you could just build an antgravity device, many think its difficult to do but its actally quite easy, So everyone knows cats always land on their feet right? And everyone knows that buttered toast always falls the buttered side down... simply strap a slice of buttered toast to the back of a cat, with the buttered side facing out.

Throw the concoction up into the air and the buttered toast wants to hit the ground but the cats feet dont and voila... instant anti gravity.

Why do you think alien spacecraft make those humming noises? thats a lot of cats in there...

In my experience you can only fly in a lucid/or non lucid dream when the dream allows you to do so. By a non lucid dream - i mean in those cases I awoke shortly after being able to fly to escape danger on the ground - which is how i remember the dream.

In a nightmare which i became lucid in - I tried flying as a method to wake me up (as this had worked before), and it was a very life like experience of jumping about 10 cm up in the air and very quickly landing - it did not work at all. So, it's just my opinion that it doesnt matter which method you use, flying will only work if the dream allows it.

Haha that is great!!!!! I freakin LOVE IT!!!

Anyway... I guess I always do the superman thing. I never really think about it, I just fly! I think that may be a problem... thinking about it to much. I think the next time i have a desire to fly in my dreams I would like to grow some wings and become the angel that i truly am!!! HAHA

I'm definately all about the superman method. Just go. When flying doesnt work for me, I usually jsut have to realzie that I can, and then it works. I tried one time and couldnt do it, and then I just said to myself "come one..this is ridiculous!" and then up and flew, and even flew around with some birds.

      flyfly

An old technique I used out of natural response was to find something like a tree, fencepost, large column, etc. The trick is to have an object that is already taller than you are. Once you've got one (manifest if need be), you walk up till you're right beside it. Grab onto the object and walk yourself up the thing...like climbing a tree w/ no hooks. Once you're up, push off lightly from the tree/column and allow yourself to float a bit, then try the whole moving around bit. This was the way I naturally adapted to dream flying, although I have tried the RUN-N-JUMP method which worked well also. But like what's-his-face said, you really have to LET yourself agree that flying is possible. If you're not convinced of this in the dream, tell yourself that you MUST fly, that it's mandatory, anything that makes you feel like flying would fit within the construct of your dream. -OUT-

Usually always use the Superman method myself, although during my last LD last week, i put my arms out like the wings of a plane which also worked. Then I put them by my side and I was flying vertically around my garden and landed by my friends with a smug grin on my face because my flying was so controlled and they were not able to fly! That was a good LD - although I seem to get obsessed with flying when I know I want to try to summon people, go into space and walk through a mirror etc.
Lucid at least once a week, mainly on weekends.

Well for me, when I relize im dreaming, flying becomes second nature, itz too easy, I guess because that is what I have always wanted to do, just fly. Damn, I can barely keep myself on the ground, I feel as if im an expert at dream control, IDK, Because i KNOW itz a dream I know itz possible.
