Not sure if this is dumb

But before i knew what lucid was, (IE 10 days ago maybe, even though this was like 3 years ago) i had a dream one night and i was walking down a street of a destroyed city. Monsters were crouched on lamppost and i looked at one and thrusted my arm up into the air flinging the thing of the lamp post, then i woke up. I am not sure if i was in control but i never forgot that dream. Is there anyway for me to know if i was in control?

I'm not sure how to answer that other than you would have known if you were in control. I see control as being able to move things or change scenery or something by will.

I agree with Mes Tarrant. If you doubt you were in control, then you probably wasn't. You might have been in control on a more subconscious level.

      to Dreamview, Not Sure.

Being lucid and being in control of your dreams aren't exactly the same thing, but it's a lot easier to control dreams if you are lucid. Were you lucid during the dream?

In any case, you might want to start practicing some techniques and try to become lucid. Then you won't question yourself about whether you actually were in control or not--you will know for sure.

I have many dreams in which I am half and half ( not the creamer ) . I will be able to maintain a waking like state of thought as I go with the flow of my current dream. This is in contrast to my pure lucid dreams in which I feel as though I am truly awake, aware and fully conscious of the fact that I'm asleep and in a dream but have the unlimited power of my will and the control to do as I wish.

Last night I dreamed I was in a huge market covering all of Central Park in NYC and at times I was carried by the dream and at others I could pause in the stream of things and think clearly and tweak my behavior. For example, as I was walking I noticed a friend and that she was upset so I veered off from the group I was with to go to speak with her. In these types of dreams I am alternately happy to be led through my dream and see what there is to see, as well as exert my will and explore.

This is a pretty roundabout way of saying that lucidity and control can go hand in hand or be completely exclusive. Also, my dreams, your dreams and everyone else's are unique and don't follow any rigid constants. This community will hopefully help you to refine your dreaming and discover what works best for you. I hope that I've helped. CL.
