A Quick Question - Dream Eating?

Has anyone here ever eaten in a dream?

If so, does it have taste or smell? Could you will it to have taste or smell? Could you, say, eat a part of your dream that may be inedible in life? For instance, a piece of concrete or metal.

I've never seen any posts here regarding this topic. I cannot remember any dreams wherein I've been eating.

Anyone have any insight to this?

I've eaten in dreams, and everything tasted and smelled as it would in real life. As for willing it, sure.. I haven't eaten anything in a lucid dream yet, but it can be done. Just like running your hands along a wall and feeling its texture, or smelling a flower. In most cases I think it would just be a matter of a little concentration.

      What were you eating?

Was it something very recognizable such as pizza or turkey? Or was it something more abstract like spinach or Salmon?

Let's see.. right now all I can remember was eating a hamburger (with ketchup and pickles and all that) and drinking pop. I haven't eaten anything that wasn't food though yet, like concrete or metal.

I can't imagine it would taste good. Or that it would taste at all. Or if you would even be able to eat it without having some kind of adverse reaction and awaken. I would still enjoy testing it, though.

Hey, I noticed you're from Illinois too. This cold wheather we've been having lately has been depressing.

Mm, I think stuff like metal would taste like it smells.. since that's all our minds have to work with at this point (assuming we haven't actually eaten metal in real life ).

Gaaah, I know! What happened to those Indian Summers? Is that it then for hot weather? What part are ya from, by the way?

This has really sucked lately, I know. I need some heat .

I've eaten, smelled, and tasted things in non-lucid dreams, so I know it's possible to do in lucid dreams.

We're all from Illinois? That's funny.

I hope I can remember during my next lucid dream. I tend to get distracted.

I used to live in Aurora.. I think.. anyway, DuPage county now. Or, for a couple of more weeks that is. Then it's cold Wisconsin for me for 4 years, whoo..

I used to get distracted during my first couple, but now I'm much better.. lol I actually stand there at first and think about some suggestions that people have posted on here.

      Kane County here.

      That's not good.

Wisconsin isn't too bad during the summer for cold, though. Swimming up there is nice since the lakes are many and usually pretty clear.

I can't wait until I reach that point.

Yeah, I was in Illinois visiting my sister in Decatur a little bit ago. Depressing. 'Course, it'll be worse here in a few weeks...
Anyway, food tastes the same in dreams to me. Except when I eat those cursed Bertie-Botts Every Flavor Beans...Seriously, it's not a good idea.

please excuse my impatience, but im a little restless right now to read the whole thread

I remember eating "something" although everytime i am eating in my dream. I always seem to forget what exactly i was eating. I rarely eat in my dreams to. All i know is that they do taste somewhat like reality food. my memory is vague though so dont quote me

      Thanks for the tip, Nightowl.

Had another lucid dream last night! Woo!

It was short, though. Most of it was comprised of me doing a reality check by jumping off of a balcony. I guess I assumed it was a dream fairly quickly. The resulting jump catapulted me over some houses and buildings. It was early morning or dawn and it was a bit difficult to see. Dark.

Unfortunately, it was very brief. Most of the time was spent mid-air attempting to control things. When I reached the ground I remembered I was supposed to try to eat something - but I woke up just as I attempted it.

Back to waiting for another chance, I guess.

I ate a person in a dream before. I swallowed them whole and it was kind of fake though heh(I wasn't lucid). Most things don't seem to have a real taste to them though. I think it might be I forget the taste though because I never noticed a lack of taste in an object.

Any and all of your senses can come to play in your dreams because it is all in your mind. If you assent for there to be smell and taste of a variety of foods then you will most likely be granted your aspire given your determination is strong enough. As for personal experience- yes I have undergone taste and smell in dreams.
It's only beyond the gate that we realize what our dreams really are . . .

I figured as much. I've never had the sensation of smell or taste in a dream myself so I wasn't sure exactly how it would work. It must be a very refined and definate taste or smell in order for your mind to comprehend it, correct? One that you are familiar with.

actually yeah. they were pastry's but i cant remember what they looked like. It's one of those pastry's that are round but in the middle there's straberry filling in the middle. Like a pond in the middle of a field. the other pastry isnt real or doesnt exist in reality. It had a weird shape, but the closest i can compare it to is to a muffin that's a sphere...sorta

also i had another dream last night where i ate that same round pastry thing with straberru in the middle. I think its called a danish? anyway that was pretty good to.

I'd be careful with that kind of reality check....If it's not a dream then something bad could really happen. Just my advice [/quote]

The balcony wasn't far above the ground.

I had a pretty good idea I was dreaming regardless because of the events that took place before I jumped. It was quite obvious once I realized it. I'll keep that in mind, though, next time I try to jump off a balcony.

Actually if I just realized now that you brought the subject up. If I just think about a food (right now) I can taste it in my mouth! Heh, weird...

But yes. I've eaten dream food. Tastes great.

I once had a lucid dream where a guy offered me ice cream but it was bright pink so i said no. Then i remembered that eating while being lucid was something i had wanted to do. Later in the dream I saw this crazy plusing/electric yellow energy ball. I took a bite. It was amazing but a crazy feeling! If any of you know Intent's avatar it looks really similar to what i ate.

      Peace Sensi.
