Latest Lucid Experience - Why's the sky so empty?

      Hello all,

This is my first post in a month or so, but i thought it was an interesting lucid experience that was worth sharing.

Lucid re-cap, Ive always had the ability to fly (to a moderate height and distance) in past lucid experiences. This changed during my last lucid dream.

I was outside my old high-school and it must have been after school, because i remember starting to walk home. Some how i began to do what i like to call my "Superman Bounding" (able to leap tall buildings blah blah)
after the first leap, i got the idea i was dreaming. With each concurrent leap, i got higher and higher. Then after the third or fourth one, i thought why jump when i could fly (easier on the legs) So i took off determined to fly as high as i possibly could. I had not been able to fly indefinately upward in past dreams, but this time i was sure i was dreaming, and i had no reservations about going as high as possible.

The sad thing is, once i got really- really high, it seems my brain, or imagination forgot to fill in the blanks. There was little to no scenery, and where ever i ended up was just a plain off white void?

Then i think i became too excited from being able to fly so high, i just woke up.

I wish my dreamscape was a bit more imaginative. Would have been nice to see some stars, or planets, or something up there!

Maybe don't fly up so fast. If you're going through clouds, take the time to imagine yourself flying into outer space. Visualize the stars and moon and planets getting closer...maybe a comet flying by. Make yourself fill in the gaps. That's a cool dream, though!

Ame has good suggestions. Just take time. Do you read before bed? Reading before going to sleep warms up the imagination (since it's at work playing out the plot and situations), so that less conscious effort may be needed to fill in those gaps in LDs.

Thanks Amethyst Star! i dont even remember mentioning that i fly upwards so fast, but i was! At breakneck speed even. Ill try slowing it down the next time, though i fear the slower i go, the more ill doubt my flying ability... hmmm we'll see.

Hehe yeah, I need to take breaks from books too. You just gotta find the right one, there's a bunch of really awesome reads out there.

I suffered from this ultra-fast flying to lost in the white situation in my last (3rd) LD too (first time flying). Thanks for the tips. I really should not have been flying anyway, considering I haven't gotten down maintaining lucidity yet lol. It was cool though, felt good to do something I wanted for once.

I've noticed that as well. It is strange that your mind does that to you. I've also found that flying too high results in loss of lucidity for me. It is almost as if I need to constantly see detail and examine things close up in order to maintain lucidity.

Yeah, same here.. I need to run my hands through grass or smell a flower from time to time in order to maintain that. Hey, ooh, maybe you could grab an object from the ground and fly up with it, focusing on it whenever needed to increase lucidity/vividness.
