      Limbo Land

Lately i've bee getting caught up in limbo land sometimes, it happens when I run into somethign or move to fast. I couldnt get outta limbo land yesterday, I think I spend several minutes there, then I had to wake myself up..usually the dreamscape reconstructs but it didnt this time
Did any of you ever get stuck in limbo land?

Note: Limbo land might be called diffirent, I had several people call it several things like void or black hole..i mean the place were there is only black/dark were you end up when you crash into something or somehing else goes wrong

Actually, what do you people think Limbo Land actually is? Is it still the dream? A place between waking and reality?? or what

That's an interesting question. I'm not really sure. I think I know what you mean, but I'm not sure what it's called or why we end up there sometimes.

that makes sense, sometimes, i think i see my body in an all black background, and envirnment...Silhouetted against me
i think it might be the space between this reality and the dreaming reality.

      purely speculation though

the truth is...you could slit my throat, and with my one last gasping breath, i would apologize for bleading on your shirt[/b]

I have this same problem... except I open my eyes and I am awake. When everything is dark it is usually right before I wake up. It is because you are no longer dreaming. You can go back into dreaming... falling asleep. I have before. Or you can always wake up.

      the nothingness

I agree, I always seem to be in this place for a few moments when i lose lucidity. When I see this nothingness, and am conscious enough to realize it, I know I have a few options - go back to the dream I was in, begin a new dream (almost always lucid), or open my eyes and wake up immediately. I have never not been able to wake from this state. I don't know if you give any credibility to Edgar Cayce but he says that we all travel through a sort of portal at the center of the universe when we sleep. This is how he was able to access the Akashic Record. He stayed awake during his trip (like WILD perhaps?), then decided to go to the Akashic library. Perhaps you are travelling through this wormhole/portal thingy at a very slow rate. Like your subconscious seriously can't make up its mind whether it really wants to go back to the waking world yet or not. A subconscious saunter if you will.

Ack, the void freaked me out the first time I LD'd. I could hear a really strange high pitched chirping noise and completly lost control. Everything became really vague and I soon woke up but still, it was freaky. Infinante nothing. Bah

after a lucid dream, and i know its fading fast, i like to stay in limbo land, and i dont know, to me it is very relaxing...
its almost as if i am floating in nothingness, and my body is relaxed as can be.

I was just reading the chapter in LaBerge's book about schema's and had this thought.
Do you think Limbo land could be caused by all active schema's turning off for some reason?

I dont know why limbo land is caused but its not a floathing feeling or something, and its not the fading away of a LD, thats another thing I think..limbo land is just clear and solid black were you end up after running into something or walking trough a mirror or something, i walk around in nothingness, I dont wake up after it, you eventually end up in another dream, or wake yourself up

Never said I couldent fly now did I

Hehe I carry weird stuff lol the looks I get when I go through airport security and empty my pockets are classic. I got two marbles, one I found in a lake the other on the beach, that is eroded like beach glass, its about 1/8th smaller than a normal marble because of the erosion, still a perfect sphere though, a polished peice of flourite, (love the stuff) a rock with a solid white band through it, that i found at ecola state park and two flattend half dollars, flattened by a 180 ton steam engine =) oh yah and on my keychain is a brass tube containing volcanic rock I collected in the crater of wizard island.

And yes occasionaly I do lose my marbles...

I've gone to a limbo land of various types:
One sort of "limbo" that is very interesting to me... I have dreams where I notice that the dream settings' horizons or "edges" are surrounded by a white mist and I get the sense that these settings have been constructed for me as if to pacify me -like a movie set that has been put up for me to be limited to like safety cage for a toddler, but not go beyond certain points (remember the movie with Jim Carrey where his entire life is a television show and he doesn't know it... or "Dark City"... ) When I try to fly through the boundaries, the people in these dreams try to keep me from going outside the boundaries or distract me so that I won't go outside... I remember one saying something like "How are you able to do that?" or "You shouldn't be able to do that." Anyway, when I fly into the mist/fog bank, there is a "wall of energy" just beyond it (like a strong current of water), and then when I burst through this wall, I find myself floating in "deep space" -extremely cold and a completely black and I always wake up becasue it becomes unbearably cold.
