Have you ever killed yourself on purpose

I have always had dreams that I have been able to control (maybe one or two a week) and have recently found out thats becaus I am a lucid dreamer. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has killed thereself on purpose? I have. In my dream i was close to my house when i suddenly became lucid. There's a small alleyway that leads behind the houses, and in true dreaming fasion, there was a monster thing that no one in the dream would go near. I remember that it only came out at twelve in the afternoon (why? I don't know) and it was a kind of orange colour, with a head similar to that of a hammer head shark. when I became lucid I remember thinking, (everyone says that if you die in a dream, you die in real life) So i thought, lets try it. All I can say is that I went to the alley at twelve, and the last thing I remember before waking up was a large orange head moving down towards me. The question is, did I die? or did I wake up before any serious damage was done? And has anyone else tried it?

About dying in a dream, and dying in real life, that's a LIE. Dreaming is 100% harmless, so whoever told you that, whack them on top of their head with a book.

Yeah I honestly cannot understand how that stupid rumor took hold at all. It is absurd.

I'm not sure if it well-known was before the creation of Nightmare on Elm Street, but I'm sure that after the story was popularized the myth became more widespread. I've managed to put myself into life-threatening situations in dreams many times in the past, and even if I die in them I most often ressurect myself or "respawn" elsewhere, making the death ineffective.

once, many moons ago. I was six years old. I knew it was a dream, but I was not aware of LDs or dream control. SO I decided that the dream was done and killed myself so I could wake up (you know how if you die in a dream, you usually wake up...) But I couldn't! I was trapped in a dream! Eventually I woke up, crying. The dream was pretty out there, anyone want to hear??

That rumour is funny to me - if true, then I should have died several times. One time I dreamed I died and then had an afterlife - I was a ghost for a while, flying around the streets, and then I went to "hell", but the worst thing about it was that there was a pit of stinky nappies/diapers that one could jump over without too much difficulty.

when I became lucid I remember thinking, (everyone says that if you die in a dream, you die in real life) So i thought, lets try it. That's untrue. I'm generally indestructible in my LD's though. Like if I fail to fly, and fall to the ground. I just bounce off or fall down, and then get up fine. Don't feel a thing, and no cuts or bruises.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has killed thereself on purpose? Once in my Dream once i became lucid i started thinking about that. So I shot myself in the head and im still here to this day. Plus ive died in many other dreams where i death wasnt self-inflicted

Here's an interesting tidbit: Your heart stops every time you sneeze. But that measure, sneezing is more dangerous than dying in a dream.

I had a LD last week and in it for some reason I decided to blow up this world and by doing so I killed myself and woke up.

I've died a few times in dreams. Once I was shot 30 times in the back, fell into the street and my vision went black, but I was still in the dream. It was weird. All the other times, I usually just reappear in the dream somewhere and continue on like nothing happened. if u r caused to die in reality by death in a dream, how would they tell anyone about it????? [insert name here] died unexpectedly last night.
