It could have been a false awakening. Sure sounds like it. I get them every now and then. I'll be lying on my bed, and everything looks like it does in real life, but then I realize I am dreaming. Of coarse, a little part of my brain still thinks "This could be real, maybe I am awake..."

Anyway during the dream a really dark figure spirit no body features just a black shadow if you like was trying to grab my soul out of my body from my hips as I was laying on my tummy trying to take it away as this was happening my soul was wrapping my arms and legs around my physical bodies arms and legs in other words my soul arms were wrapping itself around my physical arms to not let this dark shadow take it....All I remember telling my self and feeling was wake yourself up wake yourself up wake yourself up...I almost felt like I was dying in the physical world and I knew I was dreaming because of me telling myself to wake up...I eventually woke myself up by the touch of my baby's hand on mine she reeled my soul back into my body...As I awoke in real life thats how I woke up with her hand on mine....

      Sleep paralysis?
I used to experience really creepy SP before I started being able to not be so afraid. Every now and then, I still do, if SP catches me by surprise.

I had something similar happen the other night. I entered SP, and it felt like someone was trying to drag me by my feet out of my bed. It felt like I was slipping out of my body, and I was trying really hard to grab onto my shoulders so I wouldn't be taken out. I don't remember how, but I eventually woke up.

Anyway, if you find this happening to you again, I would try to relax. I know how scary it can be.

      I second the others

The best advice I can give you is to forget all about it. It was just a bad dream and nothing more. a hallucination.

I have also had similar experiences with "Sleep Paralysis" where I am trapped in a dreamlike state, but seemingly wide awake. In this instance I was looking at my bed covers and it looked like a spider crawling towards my face. Being paralyzed I couldn't wake myself up, but eventually it came into focus as just being the vines in the flower design, which was out of focus because my eyes were blurry- but it lasted for like 30 seconds. So see. Don't dwell on it!

As terrifying as such an experience is (and I've had a similar one, so I think I can understand), I believe it was a harmless one.

To me, it sounds like you had a false awakening, meaning you had a dream where you 'woke up' in your bedroom, but were actually simply dreaming it. Then (or maybe you started out, you didn't say) you realized it was a dream, and became lucid. It sounds like after that you started to wake up, as most people do after their first lucids, and started to experience sleep paralysis because your body was not yet awake but your mind was panicking and telling your body to move. Many people have similar experiences of seeing spirits, ghosts, ghouls, anything that embodies evil or scariness when going to sleep or waking up and having their body shut down on them. What you think of in a lucid dream usually appears, and you probably started to panick and your mind found a way to present that fear to you in a way that could be understood.
