Image quality during begin lucid - unable to remember

I have to problems or questions. When becoming lucid I am really amazed by the detail of things. Like a tree (the bark looks amazingly real), and scenery. When trying flying or other cool things i loose control.

But afterwards I cannot remember the detailness. It looks like a dream afterwards, although I am certain it was 'real-like' looking. I even ensured myself this during the dream to be certain,

      Please your oppinion,

      First off, welcome to DV!

Nothing unusual about your experiences there, lucid dreams are after all "only" dreams. Memories from dreams doesn't work quite like dreams from our waking life. I actually saw an article by a Norwegian scientists who wanted to find out why we usually don't even remember our dreams, which tells me that this is scientifically an unexplored area.

However, if you have had a WILD, you might have experienced remembering more (visual) details from the dream.

I hope this clears up some.

When I am lucid, the image is often blurred (like being drunk). When trying to focus i cannot seem to render things like flying, either I wake up or everything voids like my brains is saying 'cannot compute'.

I just found it odd that when I was lucid, I ensured myself "This IS as realistc, although a bit to colorfull". But afterwards it is like a normal dream: I remember what is what about, but no "screenshots".

      Will keep trying.

      Thanks for you reply

Is it possible that when you try to fly etc. that you might be trying too hard?

I know there are some tutorials on dream control on the forums, you might want to check out the Tutorials section (the archive) and see what you find there.

Am able to enter straight in to lucidity now, but only when i wake up during night. Have to keep my eyes closed. Feels like submerging into the floor. Then keep focussed! Sometimes i see binary like almost screensaver like cubes... wait a bit longer. Visual!

But unable to sustain this for long. Loose control or image goes dark like there is no light (shadow like). Tried swirling around and other tricks but nogo.

Argh, I know the feeling. But, at least for me, the same thing happens when you think back on a past waking moment, doesn't it? Think about your breakfast today...when you saw it, it looked realistic (of course); now, though, thinking back - it's less detailed. I imagine your mind just doesn't retain this detailed data enough to think back on it fully. Naturally, this changes the more you do a certain act or see a certain scene. I don't know how well that can apply to dreaming since the situations are so loose, but who knows?

Exacly what i mean. The image is so real, but afterwards. Mmm less real.

It's just amazing your brain is able to generate this.

It's the same effect as reality. You see it and then when you stop seeing it, it becomes a memory. Not as real is because you only got to see it once but if you were able to lucid dream the same thing it will be as real as reality because then you'd have a reference to something that is always there.
