Exclamation Always have trouble getting to outer space!! Always!!

Every time I try to go to outer space in my LD's I always find an obstacle that keeps me from getting there. My last attempt as I flew above the clouds, I found myself having to fly through a thick covering of what seemed to be tangled tree roots . It was like the roots were its own layer of the sky! I guess that one was cool even though I didn't reach my goal of outer space. Another time I decided I would fly a jet, and the moment I spawned a jet a whole bunch of soldiers also appeared, and they tried to shoot me whenever I went near the jet. I did end up beating the all up, but by the time I had finished with them I had forgotten about my goal. AND another time I flew up the the sky, but it was like it was a ceiling with stars painted on it. The only thing I could do was create a portal on the ceiling, but I couldn't get it to take me anywhere I wanted. I always just ended up in some strange town.. I don't know maybe I'm just not supposed to go to outer space but I really want to! Any tips anyone?

The times I've flown to space, it was almost instant. Try not to fly there, maybe just tellaport yourself there.
I would just do an extremely fast flight, I'd leave the ground and in a millisecond I'd be in space.

Perhaps the reason you cant get to outer space is because your subconsious dosnt know what it should be like so the "limit" of its understanding constructs itself as a physical limit like a ceiling or to try to lead you towards anouther path.

When you have some free time while your awake, try reading up about space and form an understanding of what it would look, sound, and most importantly how it would feel. for example the weightlessness and constant enertia.

by doing this you will give your subconsious some "material" to construc your space experiance when you dream.

I like to think of myself as a pretty accomplished lucid dreamer, but I have NEVER (as far as I can remember at this time) made it from Earth to space, while lucid. Actually, it pisses me off. LOL. I've tried numerous times, and something always happens to keep me from getting there. Either there is an invisible ceiling, I become unable to increase altitude, or whatever. One time, some mystery guy came out of nowhere and stopped me from flying to the sun to complete one of the tasks of the month, and we got into a mid-air fight, DBZ style.

It's the one thing I continuously fail at.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Your mind is trying to work out the "step by step" details of what it would be like to travel to space, and it often can't, so the experience receives a "glitch," that keeps it from actually accomplishing the feat. I've thought about trying to teleport myself, but I really want to get over the "barrier" thing and just fly from the ground up.

On a slightly related note: I feel that that concept has a lot to do with why so many people have trouble turning on lights and such in dreams. Your mind has to, at a moment's notice, try mapping out what is now a dark room, and be prepared to show it to you in full detail when you flip the switch. It's a lot to process at once, and sometimes it doesn't work out, as with trying to fly into space.

Yeah, I agree with the light thing too, though it is possible.

It's funny because I also had problems getting to space. It wasn't really getting to space, but being in space that was the problem. As soon as I would leave Earth I would wake up! I finally made it last time and orbited the Earth a couple times before landing in a different location. The time I did that I remembered how I always woke up, and I didn't want to go up, but I told myself "There is no way that my whole life I'm not going to have a single lucid dream without getting to space; I'm going to do it now." Mind over matter I suppose.

Honestly, I find getting to space very easy; see if this works for you. I just fly to space. I flap my way straight up and stare at the horizon. Like we all know, you'll see what looks like a dome of sky all stopping at this horizon. Now, imagine that the horizon moves with you. If you do that, the sky shouldn't keep going on and the dome above you will get flatter as you go up. I suppose you are making the "dome" smaller. Eventually you'll break free. This happens to me at a real world altitude of around 5,000 feet. I hope you understood what I'm saying, it is really easy and I don't think about it because my mind does it automatically.

At any rate, though what happens to you may be frustrating, just try to enjoy what your mind comes up with. After all, a painted, neverending ceiling of stars is pretty darn cool when you think about it.

Space is cool. I haven't been in a while. I think I may try that tonight, I haven't been lucid on another planet yet so I'll give it a try.

you have some good advice here. if it were me i would try doing some research on outerspace and learning as much as i can and looking at all the different pictures their are, that way you brain has knowledge of the subject and will understand how to create an image of it.
and maybe you could try opening a door or going in an elevator or somthing to get their instead of flying.
Good luck i hope you achieve this!!

Have you looked at the task of the year yet? If you decide to do it the extra motivation may help.

I've only just started going into space to work on the task. But I don't fly, I teleport.

I flew out my window and straight up through space and to the moon.
I landed there and looked around and saw the earth. I started bouncing
high all over the moon. Then i flew back which was also freaky!
But when i find something obstructing me from getting to where im going
i call that a mental block and i like you try to find other ways of getting
there. Sometimes tho, i find, once ive put up a block, its very hard
      to dislodge it.
I only flew to the moon once and have never wanted
to go back out into space again. My LDs are very fragile and usually i
have something else in mind to do.

First of all, hi all, im new . A friend told me if i want to learn more about dreaming and controlling it, i should look here too.

I remember a dream in wich i was suddently on the moon. I did not fly to get there, i was just there . The horizont was black and the moon terrain looked like ice and i was sliding over icy platforms and hills with some streams of excavations in between .There were few people there wich i knew they were astronauts and technicians , and someone wich i knew from real life, i cant remember who it was thou. I was constantly jumping while slideing and jumps were growing bigger and bigger until i got afraid i could fall down and i woke up.

Another outer space experience i had 5-6 years ago as far as i remember. This dream was very short . Again i was suddently in outer space and i was floating, not flying . I was afraid of getting to earth because i could fall if i go in the earth;s atmosphere, and in the same time i fell like there is no air and il soon die because of that . There was like a portion of space i must walk to reach the moon and then back to earth wich i crossed in like a second; and i knew i must hold my breath to be able to cross that portion of space and i knew there was a high risk for me to die if i do it . I somehow crossed that portion while holding my breath and right then i woke up . Thats all i can remeber about this dream .

ps: sorry for my bad english .

This might sound crazy and someone might even have posted it before, but if you do what you did with the portal and end up in a different town, keep going up! I read somewhere that in someones LD they had to "go to space" like 12 times before they actually reached space (every time they got past the "barrier" said they were in another world and had to get past a new "space ceiling"). But eventually they actually made it out into space.

Baah... that reminds me of my last 'Grand Space Voyage' a couple of days ago. I took off from the ground, sped into outer space, only to find a bunch of crudely drawn stars and planets. And I've read a considerable amount about space. (That's why the stars and planets I saw seemed a bit disappointing, you see ).

Ehh... As the vividness of dreams varies, so does the realism, and a lot of other factors. I guess we'll both just have to keep on trying.
