      First semi-lucid experince! (I think)

I had this dream last night, i was in it for quite a while before I actually became semi-lucid .

First the non lucid background: I wound up uncovering this government plot, somehow involving Isreal and nuclear weapons (can't really remember what the plot was). Near the end I wound up in some government installation trying to find secret documents, when me and my accomplis were caught (the alarms went off). We both decided to go our seperate ways and try to escape. I was dumb and went down a path that led me into military office space. Here I got worried... and this is where I think I became somwhat lucid. I thought to myself, "Hey, If I'm invisible, they can't catch me!" So I started to turn myself invisible, which seemed to work, no one noticed me, I even walked into this general's office (to test the invisibleness) and he didn't notice me. Then I go back out into the main office corridor and I see someone dressed in battle fatigues walking towards me. He dosen't look threatening, but he feels threatening, and I can't figure out what about him is scaring me so much... as this is happening, I start to feel my invisibleness wearing off. I materalize a gun with my hand and start shooting at him, which has no effect on him, he dosent even look at me. I then start thinking of a dream report I read somewhere earlier that day, in which a woman is being chased by a nazi soldier, and she questions him as to why he's chasing her, and the soldier turns out to be her "fear of the unknown", or something like that. What that peice of info in mind i yell at the top of my lungs "WHO ARE YOU?!" He dosen't even notice and passes right by. Shortly after that a few guards jump on me, and the dream goes in a related direction in which I definently wasn't lucid at all.

I think by virtue of the fact that I was thinking about other people's lucid dreams during this dream, I was in fact lucid, but I never remember thinking to myself "this is a dream", or anything remotely like that. But even before I started thinking about that other person's dream I felt like I was somewhat in control of what was happening. Furthermore, when I became invisible, I remember thinking to myself "you're invisible now, be confident about it and it will be, you're turning invisible, no one can harm you", which echoes advice that I've read about controlling dreams.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? Would you even consider this a lucid experience? When you guys are going lucid, does it always happen with a realization of "Hey, I must be dreaming" or something similar to that? Or is it possible to actully forget the act of becoming lucid itself, and just remembering actions that happened in the dreams. Also, does anyone have any thoughts about what the man in battle fatigues represents? In some sort of way, I think he could represent a fear of being ignored.

I have always had the realization that I was dreaming at the start of lucidity. It can be tricky, I cannot remember how many non-lucid dreams I've had in which I was trying to teach someone how to have a lucid dream =P.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...
