      Kinda-Sorta-Half Lucid

Weirdest thing ever happened to me today.

I was taking a nap in my latest failed WILD attempt, but it was the least-failed yet! It seems like the world lies in wait for me to try sleeping, because today the phone rang twice in one hour, breaking two days of radio silence.I woke up both times, reality checking with my digital clock on my way to the phone.

I woke up a 3rd time - or so I thought. I woke up mildly dizzy and saw the clock read 10:23. I had started sleeping at around 2. I knew my nap wouldn't last 8 hours, and in that moment I became lucid.

But after that, I suddenly became painfully aware of reality. It was like I was sitting up in bed looking at the clock, but at the same time sitting up in a dream looking at the incorrect clock. It felt like the dream was a screen covering real life, and I was about to fall through the screen if I did anything.

I was frozen there for a moment, too afraid to move in case I lost the dream. I did eventually, and when I did the clock immediately blinked to the real time, which was around 3:45.

This was better than nothing, but it was frustrating to say the least. Lets see if I can't do this again next weekend.

Kinda-sorta-half-lucd describes most of my lucid dreams. I'm always vaguely aware I'm dreaming. It just doesn't occur to me as necessary to exert control over the dream. Things happen so fast anyway. Occasionally if I don't like something in the dream I'll change it. Like once I bought a small bag of weed and when I went to roll it it spilled into a small resevoir of water on the picnic table and ruined the ability to smoke it. That kinda-sorta REALLY pissed me off so I just changed that little dime bag into an ounce. Resume semi-LDing as is normal for me. Funny thing is...I never even smoked the weed...LOL

Though this account reminds me more of my LD this morning. I thought someone was talking to me while I was sleeping (In my dream i was sleeping...in the same position as IRL but in a different room). Then they left and something told me I had to leave. IDK what it was but it told me to leave. I said okay okay...and I sat up (IRL) and started to wake up.

It was like I was in a LDing in a dream, like a frame story. I sort of just phased right up into reality and the middle dream was only realized in retrospect. Though it was all sort of....related...and semi aware as usual...

You said you were sort of lucid? I know what you mean, just this afternoon I had a dream and there was this girl in my apartment, and I was talking to her and i didn't realize that i was dreaming until 10 seconds before the dream ended.

I guess it's like I know I'm dreaming but I can't bring myself to care enough unless something rubs me the wrong way about the dream. Like drug 'abuse' LOL

Yea this happens to me during daytime naps.

I think its because we become so aware (probably because its bright) that we actually open our real life eyes, and see real life and the dream at the same time.

Next time, try sleeping with a pillow over your eyes.
