      Freedreaming with a lucid twist

I searched out freedreaming on this website and turned up nothing - I define freedreaming as a regular dream, where no lucid activity takes place. As a lucid dreamer for 15 years, I have had a recurring dream that is quite realistic. I have never been able to go lucid to the point where I can control this dream. Now, interestingly, I can become lucid easily (I usually do when I have this dream bacause I recognize it quickly) but I cannot change my actions or reactions in the dream. Almost like watching a movie of myself playing out the dream, but of course can't change the outcome. Without going into a lot of detail, it is absolutely horrifying. If I were to go into great detail (as I have revealed to my wife and family), it would probably scare the holy hell out of you. I know it scared the hell out of my own family and they looked at me weird for a month after revealing the long-recurring dream (almost since I began lucid dreaming in 1993).

However, about 6 months ago, I was able to gain control in the dream. Unfortunately, it did no good as I still made the same choices! I guess because I was in awe that I was in control finally... but I had it again about a week later and gained control. This time I changed my course of action and surprised everyone in the dream. It meant taking the life of someone in the dream, but I am glad to say that I haven't had the dream since...I must have been lucky enough to break the recurrence.

Anyone ever have any similar experiences?

Maybe it wasn't a lucid dream it was a normal dream in which you see yourself having a lucid dream. This might be why you can't control it. Sounds confusing

      lucid or not?

You may be right. The only time I know it was lucid was the last two times I had it. Actually the ONLY time I am SURE it was lucid was the last time because I changed the outcome. You know, I have had much greater success in every aspect of my life since I stopped having this dream.

Well, some dreams do have continuity to them. I sometimes dream in like mini-series. Each new dream will occasionally pick up at where the last one stopped.
