      Jumping really high, not flying.

I have a real problem with being able to jump really high and not fly. Ever play halo? Ever played halo modded? That's the root of my fault. You can turn on super jump and you jump really high, but can't stay up there. It works for jumping onto buildings, but nothing else. Anybody have the same problem? heh Or atleast know a remedy? Thanks to the months I've been at this site, I finally had 2 nights in a row with Lucid Dreams! Thanks alot!

I've heard of a few methods that are supposed to help you fly, though I haven't been able to test them yet. The first is flapping your arms like wings. Anything that has a physical movement involved in it should help - similar to moving you legs when you walk in a dream, even though you could theoretically just glide everywhere. Another thing to try is imagine that a strong wind is blowing you up off the ground.

When I fly in dreams, I don't start by jumping. I just sort of will myself to float upwards, and raise my arms a bit. Jumping does not really work for me, but this usually does. Another method (I haven't tried myself), start from falling from a high place and just try to change the direction of your fall, if that makes any sense...

I have never had trouble with flying, but thats just me. I think Im probably a natural flyer cause theres never any effort involved when I do it, I just kinda... fly away. Anyone else find flying easy?

Happens to me a lot, when not in an LD. I can float in almost 0 gravity, but I will eventually slowly start to fall back down. It's fun jumping from tall buildings too, since I don't get hurt when I hit the ground.

I had this same problem too when trying to fly at the start. I was able to jump high but could not stay in the air. After trying a number of different tactics however, I was able to fly for a good decent time . My technique is running really fast and then launching myself into the sky like they sorta do in Dragonball Z but with a massive run up. Flying has been a real weakness with me as things such as changing the scenery, summoning and manipulating dream characters and items came really easily to me.
      Cheers,

      Live lucid and prosper.

Definitely...usually the first instant I realize I'm lucid I start floating without even trying and can take flight whenever I want. Though, recently I have been having issues with once I get into the air, I get kinda stuck there and can't figure out how to move around, kind of like how they float around on Willie Wonka when they drink the bubble crap? Haha, I don't know...I think our minds can play strange games with us sometimes. I think you just need to break down those barriers that your mind puts up that say you can't take off and soar through the clouds.

      jumping really high

When I was young (about 8 or 9 probably) I climbed about 30 feet up a telephone pole at my school, in waking life. I can remember fragments of dreams where I was standing beside it, and I jumped exactly to the height of the top of the pole. This happened on a few occasions, at least 3.

I experimented with flying last night (for the first time) and found that "swimming" helps control your direction, but doesn't really help you maintain altitude. I remember at one point yelling "altitude!", and with that I floated up about 20 feet higher, as if a gust of wind had lifted me. Maybe try vocal instruction next time, it was definately the most effective method for me.
If you don't like my fire, then don't come around.
