      was this an lucid dream?

Before the summer started in 2008 I had a strange dream.
I had readed about lucid dreaming before that but never tried becouse Im to scared for everything like the paralyze.
Here is the dream me and my sister and her husband sat up high in some sort of tower.
They started to talk and then the tower fell.
I could just see like trought my eyes how the floor where getting closer and then evrything turned white.
I thought I died for real and I got this strange felling trought my body and then I thought this can't be real I must dreaming and then waked up.
Was that an short lucid dream or just an regular?

While I asked that I can continue to ask some things more.
The paralyse... Im afraid of it and don't want it to happend I think it is that who hold me from trying to lucid dream.
Other thing is that the dreams may be weird I would freak out if I walked in my dream and see a man doing an evil smile to me and disaper and maybe he is behind me.

1 other thing how long does the dream usually last. like 5minits? 30minits?
Most I heard sounded like they where short.
I think that is all... thanks for answers

more questions! If you maybe fell down from a high mountain do you fell anything when you land or? And if you dream about eating food do you taste it?

Well I guess it was a lucid dream that you had, or.. no. I believe that thought crosses alot of minds when you have a scary dream. So I would not call it a lucid dream, but its a baby step in the right direction when you think like that. The thing is to be able to think that same thought even when non-scary situations come up.

Sleep paralasis (Spelling??) is something you cant control, it has nothing to do with lucid dreaming. You can get sleep paralasis even if you have regular dreams. Lucid dreaming I believe would help you get more control of yourself and your mind.

The dream last, could be anything from what feels like 2 minutes to what feels like 1 hour. It all depends on how good DreamMemory you have, and the thing about TASTE. You can taste in dreams. That is also connected to your DreamingMemory. The more you remember, the more details and the more depth your dreams get.

I once ate a cookie in a dream, it tasted awesome!

*sorry if spelling is not the best

I really wanna test sounds wonderfull.
I just need to overcome my fear.
When you say you can get paralyses even with regular dream but that isn't a big chance I think?
I don't want to get it I don't like to not have control over my body.
I find things that is spiritual is a bit scary but I guess Im just afraid for the unknown.
But how can I beat my fear if I dont try then I should try.
Can try it if I sleep over with some1.
      Thanks for the answer.
I guess sleeping normal and try to don't relax to much will prevent that I get paralysed.
The thing Im afraid of to is the illusions.
I heard some really nasty stories about seing people looking at you and when you are paralysed at the same time that would freak me out and I would never wanna sleep again
Even tho I know it isn't real.
sorry if I repeat myself but 1 thing I don't like either is that some people say you can't wake yourself up from an dream but you will do it after a time that thing is also scary it is like reality a mysterius man coming and freaks you out and you can't stop dreaming and such

      Well thanks again for answer
(sorry if Im writting loads of crap)

      Hi

It seems from your drescription that you were lucid on that very last moment before waking up - from the moment you realized you were dreaming.

You don't have to go trough sleep paralisys to lucid dream. That happens to people using the WILD technique (going from being awake directly into a dream) but you can become lucid in a middle of a normal dream (DILD).

Yes, you can have scary lucids the same way you have scary non-lucids, but in a lucid there's a greater chance you'll get to kick the scary guy's ass.

Dreams can last from a second to 30 minutes and maybe more. Most of the time you get 5 to 10, but, like LaoTze said, your perception of time might make you feel like you've been dreaming for hours. From what I hear that rarely happens, though.

What you feel, see, ear, smell, taste in dreams depends on how much you're aware of these things while awake and on luck. You might never feel pain, always feel pain, or sometimes feel it and sometimes not.
Tasting food (or anything else) it's fairly easy to do. If you expect to taste, chances are you will.

      Hope this helps.

thanks well I haven't had any nightmare with non lucid but the thing is when Im not lucid it doesn't seem real so if it is a scary dream then well its a dream.
But if everything feels real and you get a nightmare can't that be scarier or am I wrong on it?

I don't know if scarier is the right word... It's a bit different because you're thinking more or less rationaly and know you can fight it, escape it, make it disapear or vaporize it with a thougth, whatever works best at the time.

One of the reasons people want to LD is to get rid of their nightmares. The moment they learn to control the dream they can get rid of the scary things.

Hehe I was really scared becouse I thought it was real and I died but then I thought this must be a dream I need to wake up and I did.

and thanks for the replies again appreciated
I guess I will try the metod when you do reality check in the dream so it will come random "if I get any"
When I see that the mind isn't that scary or dangerous maybe I can try wild.
      Lucid dreams are really interesting

      Yay!
Try reading some dream journals or the Task of the Month threads. It will give an idea of the cool stuff people do when lucid.

You don't have to put it online but a DJ is a must if you want to recall your dreams.

you should work on getting to be relaxed & happy IRL & then your dreams will be the same. your dreams will only be scary if you have anxiety & have a habit of worrying about things, & same with the sleep paralysis if it ever happens to you. theres nothing to fear but fear itself. meditation is a very great thing for curing anxiety habits & helps pretty much every aspect of your life. goodluck:]
