Arrow Freaky LD teaching me lessons...

[FIRST of all, sorry if i posted in the wrong section... I'm quite new here.. joined today after THIS experience... so any mods feel free to move this elsewhere if it doesnt belong.] So anyway. if you DONT like reading, please, I suggest turn away now because you're about to get a enormous wave of text (lol) . Continuing on then, I had the most extensive dream ever, and it was the freakiest i've ever experienced as well. IMMEDIATELY after the dream i wrote a 2200+ word log. yes. 2200+ words. Wild Adventures and Lessons to be learned. Have fun! heh. (if you are going to join me in my adventures ) And also, i put parenthesizes around the text where i try to Explain something (outside of the dream). I hope you can learn something interesting from my experiences as well. Enjoy.

      --------------------------------------------------------------
(An innocent start to the LD, non LD at this stage.)
Wow I'm so pro in Gunz (An internet game). So many reloading glitches. Something isnt right! The players are not supposed to be able to do that. Wait, I'm also a character in the game! Damn! I got shot. Dying now...

I Wake up in my dorm. Ah, it’s just a dream...
Something is awry. Lights are out in hallway. (I'm not a LDer of any sorts and I don't force them, they just happen every couple of weeks normally to me so i don't really know to do the 'light checks' and other methods to become lucid.)
I go out, neon lights it’s like a future club. Doors are made of glass. Walked around. This world is cool. I live in it for about 2 or more days. I made plenty of little friends from here and there…

I don’t know the times, but i did many things i cannot recall (and i'm not going to fill this up with false memories so i won't ). But i do remember going to sleep and waking up in the same bed every day. It was in an old abandoned office building (what has the world come to now?) One day I notice an abandoned alleyway... Nice. Go in and look around.
suddenly someone shoots me. (Why do i always have to die).

wake up in dorm. oh its just a dream...
lights are out in hallway. Everything is deadly silent. I walk outside. Everything is glowy neon. I enter a store that happens to be there. Someone starts a fight. I leave and walk into a neighboring restaurant. My family members are there making soup from water and other ingredients. They drink it. I watch someone pour water into a pot and it magically turns into a soup. It smells delicious. More people come in. These are strangers now. I turn around and i spill soup on myself. The soup burns me.

Wake up in dorm. Oh its just a dream...
Lights are out in the hallway. Everything looks neon. There is a hole in the floor. it must be a dungeon. (I wonder why i assume dark dank places are dungeons...) I go into the basement. There is an enormous dog that will eat me. It is roughly 20 times my size. Turns out it was just large but cuddly. I play with him for a couple minutes. I teach him new tricks too…
Then, I go into the next room. There is a large rat. It’s ugly and it’s definitely going to eat me this time. It sinks its teeth into my body....

wake up in dorm. oh its just a dream...
lights are out in the hallway. everything looks neon. there is a hole in the floor. It must be a subway station! I go in it. Everything is empty. There are no trains anywhere. It is dark and there is water dripping.
I explore a little. There is nothing else to see. I want to get out of here.

wake up in dorm. oh its just a dream... (if you're wondering, yes I THINK that every time, but after i become 'semi lucid' i always fall back into the dream and it just whisks me into the plot.)
something is awry. lights are out in hallway. I go out, lights are out everywhere. It is nighttime and the streetlights are gone as well.
I go into a store. there’s lots of gum in the shelves... but i am tired. I sleep in store for 3 hours because there is a bed there for no reason...

I wake up in store. Something is awry. The lights are out. The storekeepers ask me if i want to buy something because they were closing up. i said yes I’ll take some gum. they said u want more stuff? i said I’ll look around
.. there is a dungeon in the back of the store... I freaked.

I wake up in store. something is awry. The lights are out. The storekeepers ask me if I want to buy something. I choose the gum. What is this gum? I take a roll of bubble tape. Then another container. This gum has vitamin C + gum in shapes of animals... it’s not bubble tape. OK I’ll buy MORE stuff since the storekeeper asked again. I walk around. There’s a tunnel in the store that looks like a dungeon.

***DREAM DEJA VU! Lucid dream starts. I am excited.***
i turn around to gather info to myself since now i know that i am lucid. The storekeepers bash my head in with clubs. ouch. I began to black out. (Is it possible that while you are lucid, your DC's attack you to death? ahh)

wake up in dorm. oh its just a dream...
something is awry. The lights are out in the hallway. There’s neon things everywhere in the streets. My doors are made of glass. I’m realize that I am still dreaming. I walk outside. Let's do what I want! I take a leak on the stairs because I hear people fighting upstairs. (Obviously my mind was still a tad bit random...) I hope they slip when they come down... but someone comes down with a gun. They shoot me. I’m dying. (Did i do something wrong? lol.)
I decide to wake up now. I don't want to die in a dream.

wake up in dorm. oh its just a dream... (Yes i am STILL thinking that).
The lights are on in the room... Finally. But something doesn’t feel right. The air around me feels like fluid, with some sort of watery texture. I remember this from my first LD. i know i'm still dreaming. I walk outside. The walls are glass. i can see outside into the neon streets. I walk up some large stairs inside my dorm hall. Someone is starting a fight behind a large set of locked doors. There are bystanders peering in from the outside. I get an idea. i use a magic force in my hands and... think... and I DON’T open the door after all. i just walk past and smile because nothing will happen out of this. I can’t just use powers so publicly! i walk into a room. A screaming sound...

wake up in dorm. oh its just a dream...
lights are on in the room. (the blankets on me are ALWAYS in the same order when i wake up. they are folded twice over, on top of me). lights are on in the halls. I walk outside. it is cold. I walk up the same stairs. I see the shadow of someone getting dressed. I head into their room. (At this point, nasty things happened for over 30 min in dreamland time so i will exclude the info ) People are so light these days it’s as if they were made out of paper. I look into the mirror. That is my real reflection!
this dream is awesomely real. I realize i just said it was a dream. now its gonna end.. Lucid dreams always end when I acknowledge them. Aw.

wake up in dorm. aw why did my dream end.
**wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm.wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. **
COOL. i didn’t know i could drag out my 'wake up in dorms'. my dream definitely is still on and now i can do what i want! best lucid dream ever.
I walk around. I try to turn a piece of paper into a gun... it doesn’t work. damn. I roll it up. now it looks like a bat. I try to turn it into a bat. it turns into a metal baton with electricity (like a taser). good enough. Actually, even better.I go out to use it on someone now. (How morbid) I climb up some stairs. someone is coming down. ZAP! there is a bright light and I am blinded.

wake up in dorm. ok its getting a bit freaky now. This time, I rolled out of bed like a slug. wow
its so SLOW MOTION. it feels disgusting.
**wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm.
wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. **
ok that’s a bit better. better speed here, now that i sort of 'refreshed the dream' a couple times. its still cool. oh wait...

Now I realize that I’m waking up forever only in dreamland, and not really waking up for real. Ok. I'm scared now. Let’s wake up for real.

** wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. **

i cant. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in hospital. What the hell happened? This cant be real can it? The hospital is completely empty. *sigh* now i understand why others hate dreams where u wake up over and over again. but this is too much. People usually end up with only 3-4 false awakenings... I’ve been waking up for over a hundred times... When will it end? i need to learn how to wake up for real.

I wake up in the hospital. something is awry. everything is empty. lights are out. outside there are neon lights everywhere. the walls are glass and see through. Then it occurred to me. What if the hospital is a symbolism of something happening to me in the Real world? (Like if i rolled off my bed and cracked open my head or something) what if this is how a comatose person feels? what if I’m actually in a coma now. damn! *I hear someone coming in the dorm hall's front door.(I hear this through my dream, but I am 90% sure it was real sensory info from the outside world). i wonder if that is my roommate. Save me! Wake me up. If my head is cracked open call 911!
.... no such luck. It’s someone else. No… wait… I pondered, and that means everyone who is in a coma has such nice dreams too! That is... until the point where their plug is pulled! and that means they hear EVERY WORD and know EVERY THING AROUND THEM... They only can't respond.... pulling the
plug is murder!!! i miss my family now. i wanna wake up

wake up in dorm. phew. lights are on. everything outside sounds normal. The walls are not see through. The blanket is folded on itself twice. Uh oh. i try to sit up on my bed.
**wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. ** (after i got up to a certain level, like a broken record i automatically reset to starting position and kept going up, down up down up down, resetting the action of 'sitting up' every time, every time it turns dark and the dream starts over again.)

i can’t get out of bed without restarting the dream!!! Help me. I’m terrified now.

wake up in dorm. OK. i get up. good. look around. It’s fine. I move out of my bed. I cursed at myself. I am in super slow motion again!!! I slide to the floor and it takes me many minutes…. i flatten out like a slug. It's all disgusting and weird... all slowly…. i want to wake up!!!
i slap myself. i pinch myself. I take breaths. i close my eyes and
tell myself i will now wake up. i will now wake up… I imagine the real world. (I used to think in my first few LDs that IF i was DREAMING now, and i wanted to wake up, then i'll just go to sleep in the real world and when i open my eyes, I will wake up.)

Wake up in dorm. Normalcy. I sigh. Pinching yourself doesn’t work. I know that not because the lights are on. But because every piece of furniture in the room excluding my bed is gone. They’re all gone. i freaked again. I guess much of a dream is tied to your emotions (If emotions exist inside a dream.) **wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm.
wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. (at least 30 times)**
      and i finally give up.

Wake up in dorm. Something is awry. The pillow is gone. i feel around for it. the pillow is not there. But then, I feel an invisible pillow. WOW am i 'sleepwalking' in the real world and actually touching my actual pillow that i cannot see at the moment? good! this gives me hope. i can now communicate... NOT (these things keep dawning on me and i just go DOH! heh) i can’t talk while sleeping duh. I don't sleeptalk. i forgot. damn again.
im doomed for life!!! (This dream is really good at making me lose my willpower...)

**wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. **

I get onto the floor. i look at my bed. that bed is a curse. i don't like it at all. i don't wanna wake up over and over with fear anymore. i've accepted living in this alternate reality. i've been here for days. many days. perhaps even weeks. im tired of trying to wake up. im trapped.
      i begin to cry.

wake up in dorm. the blankets are folded twice. the pillow is there. i get up. there is something different about the air… slow-motion watery again. (i've learned that when the air is watery, it is a sign that my dream is weakening to me.) I’m very very very scared. this has been the most amazing dream experience I’ve ever had and yet i don’t want it anymore because it's got me caged. i hate waking up the same way every time knowing that this is just a dream. how long has time passed in the real world? perhaps i HAVE been hospitalized in a coma.

i begin to pray to some sort of nothing. (I'm not even religious). i speak out loud. "What did i do wrong? I just want to wake up. i don’t like it in here anymore. I’m sorry for wanting lucid dreams so badly. I’m sorry i want power" I get down on the floor to bawl like a baby…

i wake up in dorm. The blankets are all over the place. The pillow is there. i get up. There is something different about the air. There is something refreshing as if you just ACTUALLY woke up. my computer is humming. natural sounds. finally. no more dead silence.

i thank whoever made this happen. was someone teaching me a lesson? I look at my bed and i hit it. (Lol) And I say 'u are dam cursed, get away from me'. so i get away from it. (ahah I was extremely dazed so my actions didn't make much sense for a while).
i look at the clock. 30 min's have passed. Consider REM sleep begins at least after 10 minutes. The ratio is quite astonishing. I had my 20 minutes of nap time traded in for a week or two of learning experience in a world where nature’s rules don’t apply.

To have just had my weeks of experience in a little nap. i will never underestimate the power of the subconscious and its unique time bending. Was there a lesson to be learned? By wanting this lucid power and the power to change my dreams (which I have the rights to anyway), i have trapped myself into a lucid loop. (too much of a good thing can be a bad thing... heh) But, that just the consequences i have to deal with. for now i am just glad i am finally awake. And thank goodness I drank my bladder full before i napped. it finally snapped me awake. Nature owns me .
otherwise, who knows how much longer, how much more crazy and mental i would have to get inside my dream before it released me? (Could a dream drive someone insane?)

And I wake up... to life. There are definitely lessons to be learned in dreams.
Or else what? It’s probably some higher power toying with my mind. Then THAT sucks.
      The End (or is it?).

      -----------------------------------------------

Thanks for reading. And if there are such people out there who are into all the 'dream meaning stuff' (which i don't buy, but i love attributing dreams to signs ANYWAY) then feel free to 'decipher' my dream's meaning(s).

So many repetitions to look at... i.e. what is up with all the neon lights outside in my streets? Glass doors and walls? And I can bet this is probably one of a huge record numbers of false awakenings xD

All I can say is, my dream got smart to me and it broke down my will in the end... But all those little feelings are now tucked into the back of my mind (like dreams always dissipate). I just find it amazing. Thanks for reading through all that. I look forward to your comments (If i ever wake up from my next sleep) dun dun dun.!

Hey, that dream must've been really scary...
But anyway, i've heard somewhere that if you close your eyes in a dream, and then open them as fast as you can, that you then would open your eyes in the real world, and thus wake up. But i haven't tried it, don't know if it works.
      Good luck dreaming
      Keep on dreaming.

perhaps i HAVE been hospitalized in a coma.
Coma is a state of unconsciousness.

To have just had my weeks of experience in a little nap. i will never underestimate the power of the subconscious and its unique time bending.
It was just 20 minutes. Parts when you "do something you cannot recall" or just go to sleep somewhere are skipped and replaced with a false memory.

I wouldn't really look for some secret meaning in there, it sounds to me like a weird dream - nothing more.

ahah. thanks mertruve. it didnt occur to me i was blabbing all wrong about a coma cuz i was so excited .. plus in a dream. forgive me XD how embarrasing >.>

      mmm yesh. seriously weird dream.

(Sandstorm: ) but if it happens again in the future im gonna have to go research some 'waking up' methods cuz.. closing my eyes and opening doesnt work, hurting myself doesnt work... well in THIS case at least... in most other dreams they work well tho...

      thanks for the comments.

That must have been one hell of a dream. I was like O.o when I read ** wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. wake up in dorm. **

You should get a talk with your subconscious (dreamguide if you want), ask him/her about that dream. It should help

One of the most amazing things I ever read here around the forums. It really catched me to read it, like a written story. Reminded me on Groundhog Day a lot

I find it really amazing to hear that you spent WEEKS in that dream, and it shows how difficult it can be to understand our mind.

I always feel sad about the fact that lucid dreaming is such an unexplored terrain in science, noone tells you about it in school, noone of your friends does. I found lucid dreaming by myself with luck and randomness, but this shows again how interesting and amazing it can be, and how much you can learn about yourself and your mind with it.

Thanks alot for putting that awesome experience onto dv, I really enjoyed reading it and it still makes me think a lot.

Good luck for your next dreams

      Cheers

Yea. dream times are such strange things. [its as if we were whisked to another dimension where time and space is completely different]

and while 'waking up' so many times confused me, it made me lose track of time.
somehow i KNEW eventually i would wake up due to natural causes, sounds, alarm clock, etc.
but waking up so many times threw everything off and it felt like an eternity. also the fact that i was TRYING to wake up and failing scared me to death since ... well.. my futile attempts weren't happening.

I suppose people shrug off dreaming because certain people BELIEVE they've already examined and explained it. "Dreaming is your subconscious sorting through your memories of days past and colliding memories make weird dreams. " I however, don't believe that fully. I also think it's because there aren't enough equipment that is powerful enough to handle the task of scanning our consciousness. What we have now are just WAVES in the form of lines on paper. It can tell us WHEN we dream but not WHY.

ur welcome, and Thank YOU for reading

woah, that is soo weird! were you sick at all? i mean like getting a cold or something? cuz i find that when im sick i have repetitive dreams. Im not saying i had anything as completely weird as your one, but one time i went to bed at like 8pm (cuz i was like 14 and mum made me go to bed early) i had this same dream over and over again. it was barbie, stading in a bowling alley throwing a dice down the alley ove and over and over and i got so pissed off watching it i woke up and it was like 4 hours later and i realised it was coming down with a cold/cough thing.

Thanks for sharing your experience. That truly is amazing!

Does it play in the back of your mind that you, perhaps, aren't even awake yet, and that your mind is just making your dream seem more vivid to keep you fooled as you become wise to it? It would probably bug me for ages!

what do you mean by that? I am sure that in a dream there's no such thing as ''time'' or what we are used to. But to me, it seemed that way. And in addition, my dream was only 20 minutes long in real time anyway...

As for time - AFAIR time in dream is equal to real time. If you feel like living week, it is probably false memory. Though I admit it still may not be true in some brain modes different to regular LDs.

Although dream time seems to be very long (some may seems to last for a whole day), they are actually very short intervals of time, around several minutes. Why do they seems to be so long? For some reasons, it maybe we who invent and insert some incident into the dream to make it seems so long.
Acutally dreams can change your sense of time in a very strong way. Not unlimited of course and not totally different from the real time, but in fact what we experience in a dream can run alot faster that the real time does. I often experience this in the morning when it's time to stand up but I fall asleep again and have a dream about a complete story, when I wake up maybe 5 to 10 minutes are gone. I do also think a big part is affected by the problem that we can not always remember our dreams as detailed as our real life, including time sense. But imagine the story from above as a movie, it would be longer than 20 minutes, which shows that dream time CAN be faster than real time.

I don't get how our brain could insert false memory... Sorry for being closed minded to this one...

Ever get deja vu? It's kind of this feeling. With a little practice, you can even incubate false memories (but better go for something absurd, so you won't mistake it for the real thing) ^^

I found that a crazy and entertaining read.

The "wake up in dorm" thought really added a sense of narative; paralell structure is a very powerfull device.

I can totally see how that would freak you out.

I agree. I've had these too... but apparently it shouldnt be possible to dream in the first 5 min unless ur REM deprived... then again, its as if we were still sleeping anyway cuz when u 'wake up' and fall asleep again u dont acutally 'wake up' do u ? its more of a , open eyes, eh, close eyes, DREAMyy.

      good points

agreed as well. i mean... DREAMS themselves might all be 'false memories' but why 'false memories' OF a dream (if they were false memories) AFTER u wake up? I suppose we're not supposed to remember our dreams (dam all my repetitive words) since we generally forget them after 5 or so minutes... but since we keep little dream logs / etc, they stick a while longer and

i thereby infer that while ur conscious memories return they mix in with ur dream and conclude in fascinating, wildly imaginative 'false memories'. ok... im crazy. forgive me its 2 30 in the morning.. and... im gonna go sleep now. heh happy dreaming.

Wow that's insane, I would be freaked out too. I mean since it felt like weeks in your dream what did you do? I mean, if that was me I would do everything I possibly could, since I know I would be stuck in there for a while.

      okay, what I get is:

If I don't completly remember a part of my dream I will make up a false memory that represents what I weakly remember.

But I don't think we wake up and then say "Hey, I remember jumping on a vampire" and that this ends up being a false memory. Dreams are our imagination, I don't think they need to be imaginated... If you get what I mean. Why would I imagine having an imgination of something? That's what I thought you guys are saying but that I am really not openned minded to believing...

But I'll believe you if you meant false memory about something we make up to fill in the parts we forgot... i mean, if you remember seeing a cat but don't remember its color, You'll make a false memory of what the cat's color is so you can remember that event better.

Think about it: brain is able to receive input (waking life), and generate it (dreams). What's so hard about generating memories then?
Dreams are our imagination, I don't think they need to be imaginated...
You really have a lot of dreams during just one REM period, some boring parts need to be skipped.
that represents what I weakly remember.
Doesn't have to be weak, sometimes you can remember it in a lot of detail

Why would I just make up a memory of something that doesn't exist? is this all scientificly proven?
