      My first LD!

Well, lucid 'experience' you might say. It didn't really last long enough to be conidered a proper dream, but I'm still claiming it!

I had attempted a WILD as soon as I went to bed (as I have been doing most nights for the past 18 months.) I had no success, but I had set my alarm to wake me up around 6 hours later during REM sleep. So, I woke up and went through the WBTB ritual. I must have simply fallen asleep again, because I found myself back in an ordinary dream.

In the dream, I had just parked my car in the drive, and went into the living room. I can't remember why, but I decided to go for another drive. I walked outside and to my shock, my car was gone! Immediately, I realized that I hadn't been inside for long enough for someone to have broken into my car and hotwired it. Something just didn't add up. Somehow, I realized this in my dream and figured there was no harm in doing a reality check.

I held my nose and tried to breathe in. To my surprise, it wasn't impossible, but at the same time, the air didn't just rush into my lungs either. Its hard to describe, but it was a strange sensation. At that moment, I just suddenly had control - I was lucid!

I couldn't believe it. I was so overcome with excitement that I nearly woke myself up. The hard part wasn't over though. I managed to walk up the steps of the deck and into the front door, but it just became too hard and I slipped out of control of my dream again. The whole experience maybe lasted 20 seconds.

It's 20 seconds I will never forget though. I feel great now that I know all the time I spent trying to become lucid wasn't for nothing. It was an amazing feeling. I just hope I don't have t wait another 18 months to experience it again.

Well, now that you've had one, the rest should come easier. Thats how it was with me. I spent a long time trying, and when I finally had one. I had the next one in less than a week. All of them tend to last between 1-2 minutes, sometimes longer. I still haven't fully mastered stabilizing the dream afterwards, which is a problem. I can get lucid easy enough now, but I can't hang onto the dream.

You use the Same reality check that I use also. Its never failed for me, so I suggest you stick with that one. Aswell, next time you get lucid, you can try what I'm trying, and take a few deep breathes, and take a moment to actually say out loud "this a dream, now think about what you want to do.".

That should get you thinking clearly, and the relaxation should keep you from getting overly excited.

Thanks for your advice. I'll try that the next time I'm lucid. It was so much harder to hang on to that control once I had it than I expected. I'll keep researching and try to find a way of stabilizing my dream that works for me.

Yeah, for many people, that can be the hardest part, is just hanging onto the dream. But once you can manage that, it gets easier. Have you ever read the book "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming"? If you check it out on Amazon, you can find it for a good price. It has tons of good information.

Or if you throw me a PM, I can send you the PDF Format of the book so you can read it on your computer.

ha, that's funny because I just had my first lucid dream last night too!

lol, the dream was weak and short lived, but I distinctly recall being in control for a good part of it.

Looks like we're close to the same "level" if that's what you'd call it.

my lucidity only lasted for about twenty seconds also. I tried to do that spin technique, but the control just slipped outta reach.

it's cool that we'd both have an experience on the same night...

lol, it was so cool being in control and knowing you were actually asleep, I can totally relate to how you must feel. I'm so giddy about tonite now.

I had a quick read on Amazon, and I've ordered it
Looks like a great book. Hopefully it can help me stabilize my dreams. Thanks again for your help.

      Congrats on your first LD!
Let me know if you have any luck tonight. I almost had a successful WILD last night, but it all fell apart at the last minute. That would have been amazing though... two in a row!

It's true that after one LD, you are bound to have more. And FAST!!!!! I had my first three LDs within two weeks (this week and last lol). Actually it was yesterday night- that makes three expieriences... weird. But it's great, right? Especially when you get complete control. I was able to command my family members... keep on dreaming! (heh...)
