6 month no ld dry spell over, and why i stopped

I'll start by saying sorry for the long post, but i think at least that its a good read if ya have the time.

My expirience with a dry spell is sort of weird because I forced myself to stop ld'ing. I feel like I can see jaws dropping when i say that, but my last ld before this mornings was absolutely terrifying. What happened is this, My dream was taking place in some sort of underground research facility, the dream characters consisted of people and aliens who are co-existing happiliy. In my dream i glance at my watch and reailze "Hey, i should do a check", so i do and the time changes to what i thought it should change to (so i realize i'm dreaming) , just as i do that, it was like a disguise had been pulled off of me and every dream character in my dream stopped what they were doing and just stared at me, it was so creepy so i tried to leave the corridor and just started running, they all chased me for what seemed like about a minute and then i thought to myself, my friend will be around the corner and she was. I talked to her for maybe a second and then the aliens/people were upon us, at which point i woke up.....or so i thought, i quickly sat up in bed and was like that was so f'd then realized I was still dreaming (i'm not sure how) then everything went black and a very dark and well scary voice warned me not to lucid dream again and said that i wasn't meant to lucid dream and if i did again.......... then i woke up for real.

Anyways obviosuly this really turned me off ld'ing so i stopped writing in my journal a few nights afterwards and pretty much gave up on it, but over the past few weeks i've been reading more and more about it and this morning i woke up and thought to myself, i'm going back to bed and having a lucid dream, i had many starts to dreams where i would realize i'm dreaming and wake up, but in the end i finally had one that lasted about 30 seconds (of course i forgot all about spinning etc). So i would just like to say that for now I am back, but if lucid dreaming turns on me again, i will be gone.

Anyways, any thuoghts and expiriences are most welcome

I think you will get your lucidity back fairly quickly now that you have made up your mind to pick it up again.

If you start having bad experiences, maybe we can all help you conquer them. Good luck!
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

      Hey JAllen

It seems to me that you have a fear or worry about LDing, which is causing it
And its no different from any other nightmare problem...

If you find yourself in another bad experience such as that, you need to confront the people in the dream. With force if need be... but try peacefully first
By confronting the nightmare, you confront the fear...

      Good luck

Placebo you are most likely right, my childhood was plauged with nightmares/terrors, which is the main reason I became interested in lucid dreaming because I wanted to understand more about my dreams, and dreaming in general. And then when i started reading about dream characters reactions and other expiriences people said they hadin dreams it got my mind racing and I probably thought the problem up on my own (well obviuosly). BUt yeah, now i'm back at trying it, and trying to be very positive about it.

But if i have any problems, rather then just quitting again, i will approach you guys for help.
