Hello fellow dreamers. I am new to this forum and have been wondering about something.

I had not heard of the concept of Lucid Dreams until about 5 months ago. I have always had amazing dreams for as long as I can remember. I thought that everyone dreamed the same way I do, but after finally telling people about the things I experience when I dream I started to realize that my assumption wasn't true.

My dreams have always been realistic. I often can not tell if I am awake or dreaming. I truly believe I am awake most often, but am actually dreaming. When I do realize that I am in "The Dream World" as I call it I instantly have god like abilities. I can decide to do, quite literally, anything. In these dreams each of my 'awake' senses are still active. I can feel, hear, touch, smell, and taste. For example, I have fallen in love with flying. I can control my speed and the landscape that I am flying over and through. I once decided that I wanted to fly through the mountains and then to the sea. As I flew over the mountains the view was breathtaking. I felt and heard the wind react as I sped up and slowed down. I soared down close to the tree tops and heard the sounds of the forest. As the top of the mountain broke away I saw a vast and shimmering expanse of the sea. I sped up as fast as I could take my body and soon water was all I could see in any direction. I flew down close to the water and felt the water spray on my body, I could taste the salt when I became so filled with joy that I burst into laughter.

This type of vivid experience happens each time I dream. I don't have to try to make this happen, it some how happens nearly every night. Anytime I actually have a dream, which is usually 5 to 6 times a week, I find myself in this magical world.

Once I had done nearly everything I could think of doing while in this state (controlling the elements, giving myself all sorts of comic book type powers, visiting every city, temple, ruin, landmark, etc that I could think of) my dreams began to develop plots. I would know that I was dreaming and knew that I could do whatever I wanted, but I would let the plot continue just to see what my mind had in store for me. These experiences included being a pirate on a rugged vessel, being a Navy Seal and going on a mission in which I parachuted out of a plane and infiltrated a compound only to fight off enemies and eventually capturing a target and taking him back to base. The list of plots goes on and on. Now, I have never been a pirate, nor am I in the military. But in both of those dreams I somehow knew exactly what I was doing and I did it well.

The most bizarre things I have gone through is dreams that lasted for months but in reality I only slept for 8 hours.

In these dreams I am usually transported to an alternate reality in which I am on an earth like planet but things are quite different. Different colors, different cultures than are on Earth, people born with a different set of abilities and sometimes different senses than people are born with on Earth. These dreams commonly involve a beautiful and epic movie worthy plot.

I would love to write the full experience of one of these ultra long dreams but I will save that for another post. I have taken up too much space with this one already.

If anyone has any idea whats going on with me I would love to hear about it.
