      Spontaneous lucidity?

I'm curious if anyone can relate to this.

I have never become lucid in a dream using dreamsigns. There's never any cognitive, conscience recognition going on saying "that shouldn't be like that, I must be dreaming." I'll generally have at least on LD a week if I'm not smoking a lot of herb, and every time I just all of a sudden realize I'm dreaming. I don't do any tests or reality checks, I just instantly know and take off to do whatever.

A couple of times I've had some kind of "bad" creature or person come at me, and the excitement from the fear makes me lucid, but that's the only pattern I've noticed.

Anyways, the problem with this is that it's hard to find direction in how to become lucid more often, because there don't seem to be any patterns to work with when I analyze my dream journal.

      Comments?

      Thanks

I'm exactly the same way. I don't usually LD at night b/c I don't recognize when I'm dreaming. (But I like to keep my night dreams non-lucid anyway, sometimes its more exciting like that) It's only happened a few times. I usually become lucid during light sleep like in the morning hours (between 6-10am) or anytime while I'm napping during the day. Lately I've been getting lucid EVERY time I nap. I can't give you any suggestions. Dream journals, dream signs, reality checks...don't work for me. But I am having LDs everyday so why bother with that other stuff? The only technique that's worked for me that I learned on this site is the WILD. If you have any questions don't be afraid to PM me.

      Happy Dreaming

We seem to be on the same wavelength. The only technique that's worked for me has been WILD. But, I've only been able to do it if I wake up in the late sleeping hours, like 6-8am, or if I take a daytime nap.

I keep a journal to help with recall, but it doesn't help me out otherwise.

Perhaps it's because of my experiences with hallucinogens, I'm able to recognize an altered state of consciousness. Actually, a few times in dreams I've done reality checks, but instead of thinking I was dreaming, I thought I was on a huge dose of mushrooms that brought me to this plane of awareness.

      Thanks

      Ciao

Hmm. I wonder if drugs have had anything to do with the fact that I can pretty much LD every time I nap. Maybe they did something to my brain and made me special (hehe) so that I can just have spontaneous LDs all the time. Maybe not.

Drugs make everyone special. LDs make you awesome. The day nap thing does work incredibly well for putting you in the state, I believe, and especially if you've had coffe a few hours prior. That's my trick at least. As far as dreamsigns and RCs, I've used RCs before, but only because I recognized the dreamstate. Dreamsigns, no. Just to show how bad RCs kinda don't work for me, I was at a mall, outside, and jumped a couple of times. I realized that gravity had become a bit loose. I could jump higher and fall softer than before, like on the moon. I remember saying to myself, "Hmmm. The government must have changed gravity today. Why'd they do that?" Then I woke up. It was so obvious and RC, automatic too, but I just accepted it. I was somewhat distraught when I woke up and realized I had missed an LD by, like, an inch.

I'll always miss the obvious dream signs, then catch the little ones. Like once I HALO jumped out of an air tanker, landed on my school bus, climbed in the emergency exits/vents on the top and sat down. A few seconds later the bus driver decided to go offroading with the bus. Bus goes out of control, begins rolling, I'm still not lucid. A few minutes later a friend walks up to me and says "Hello" instead of "Hi" and I instantly said "I must be dreaming! You never say "Hello!"!" and I went lucid. Freaky.
