      why cant i stay lucid?

So last night, i was dreaming that i was skateboarding while hanging with a friend. And i have been doing some reality checks lately and well i decided to plug my nose. And bam i could breath haha. It atcually worked well anyways ive been practicing on staying calm when this happen so i wont get any weird urges and just be in control. And well its working but something weird happens. After i know im in control, i just stay still and look around. But then as i blink (one eye at a time, idk why) and it stays closed. Like its stuck, super glued closed. Then the other one and im in total darkness. I then try to spin, and it just feels as if i spin in darkness. Then im in another dream not lucid. Any help?

Im not n expert but your reality check is good. Try to focus on your hands or rub them together if your eyes become glued then have confidence that they will become unstuck. Then focus on your eyes and try to open them. Keep focusing on hoow your eyes will become unstuck. Confidence is the key.

When you first realize you're dreaming. Try to stay very calm.

Sometimes during lucid dreams you're not in complete control. You realize your dreaming but there is still some things you cant control such as your eyes this time. This happens alot to people during their first few LD's. As you get more experience you will gain more control and then you should be able to control everything.

next time tell yourself that you're dreaming and you know how to open your eyes
or get a big truck or aeroplane to hit you in the face so that you open them

Thanks guys, that helps alot. But still, i found it kind of weird, because ive had numerous amounts of lucid dreams, they were mainly urges, but ive flown, leaped from rooftoop to rooftop, walked through objects, soar over tropical paradises. But now it happends when i start to try and gain control? Hmm haha oh well

It's funny that you should mention your eyes getting stuck. I wrote a post just after yours where I mentioned that in my dream last night I tried to blink quickly (to prolong my lucidity) but they ended up getting stuck.

When that happened I had to reach out and grab the nearest thing to me and really feel the texture, shape and size of what I was holding (in my case, a roof tile). That brought me back around

This has happened to me before. Maybe instead of trying to open your dream-eyes, just focus on the thought, "I am dreaming. This is a dream." Lucidity is more important than seeing.
