      Talking My First Lucid!

As of this morning, I have had my very first lucid dream. It was the pinnacle of the whole morning's, crazy, insane, continuous dreams. And I must say, it was every thing I had ever hoped...with practice it will become something wonderful.

I had had multiple dreams about a hideous world in which an alien species has all but eradicated the human race. A setting where death by being eaten isn't something to prevent, it's something for which to prepare. I'll spare all the details for my journal, but suffice to say it was one of the most vivid dreams I had ever had. At the end of it, I honestly could not tell reality from a dream. I thought it was real, could have been multiple false awakenings. However, the last one, I remember walking down the sidewalk with whom I called Steve Carell (I have no idea why). Then, just out of the blue, I realized, "Wait, something doesn't add up here..." Just then I glimpsed at my right hand and although not as disgusting as I thought it would be, it was messed UP. It was my left hand with six fingers. So, instead of surprise and amazement, I think "Neat", then I turn my attention from the inevitable extinction of the human race to makeshift flying lessons. I take a running start, jump in the air, and sort of not fly for 8 feet. The next time I jumped up and, as hilarious as it sounds, I flapped my arms like a giant idiot bird and it sorta worked, I got to like 100 feet in the air and I saw everything begin to fade. I tried yelling "Clarity now!" but it didn't work, or it was too late, my dream scene and my reality faded into each other as I opened my eyes. It was really wired.

Despite this being the high point of my week, I have a few ideas as to what may have caused this, as I have a few things differently as of late.
      The different factors are:

-I had started taking an antidepressant (SNRI)
-I took some cylcobenzaprine before I went to sleep (Muscle relaxant)
-I took some Xannax the day before and did not dream (REM rebound?)
-I Ate some chocolate before bed (Highly doubtful)
      -I slept in another bed
      OR
-I have just naturally gotten used to looking at my hand during the day, it soaked into my subconscious, and I RC'd in my dream and it worked

Holy fucking shit, man. Congratulations and welcome to the power that is the lucid dream! I can't help you with your questions, however, seeing as how I am the one who asked them...

      Keep dreaming, sexy

Hey Congrats! I've been gone the past couple of days (don't usually visit DV on the weekends) so I'm a little behind on posting. Your dream was pretty crazy! It may be a combination of things, however, I think that it may have been the chocolate (just so I can have an excuse to eat more!). But really, it could have been any of these things. My bets would be on sleeping in a different bed, changing up meds and getting used to RC's, because you can never go wrong with doing RC's! (Basically I just said that I don't have an answer). Wish you many more lucids!
      ...And then to dream...
