      disabled dreaming

For time to time i have found myslef to have dreams where i am disabled. Not in a wheel chair or anyhting like that but.... hmmmm
      i will give an example

i had this dream where my and some of my friends were steeling beer from this old guys garage.. hehe
i remeber being exited...... i got the beer then strarted to run...... the old man came out and it felt like my feet had huge wheights on them
i had so much trouble running.... i have had several dreams like that where i can barely run when its very much needed.

      wonder if that represent anything??
does anyone ever feel disabled in their dreams?

Maybe it's the way your subconscious punishes you. Do you do things like steal from old people in many dreams?

I know the exact feeling you're talking about. I often used to feel like that when trying to run from something or scream in nightmares. What I've heard is that since your body is not mobile at all, due to sleep paralysis, some of that transfers over into your dream, slowing you down.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

This occurance almost always happen during nightmares. I have tried running from dream characters before with the same results you describe.
Your subconcious and fear play a role in this.

This used to happen a lot when I was young -- I would try to shout out for my parents (usually during a nightmare) and find that I couldn't manage more than a whisper.

Strangely, this happened to me once within the last year -- the first time I can remember it happening as an adult -- but it was during an odd dream where I was having multiple FAs and trying to alert my parents to some kind of possible danger (for some reason my wife and I were sleeping at their house in the dream).

I've noticed a sort of pattern in my dreams and other people's - when you absolutely *have* to do something that could be a matter of life and death or something nearly as drastic as that, you almost can never do it. For example, a recent dream of mine, I was being chased by a mob of guys led by a fat actor dude posing as Julius Caesar (don't ask), and as I ran, I was having alot of trouble doing it. All the time I'm thinking "MUST ESCAPE! RUN FASTER", and it just keeps getting slower...

Also, I've had dreams where I absolutely *MUST* shout, and all that emerges is nothing, as if my vocal chords are just not there.

That seems to be very true Kaniaz. I wonder why this is?
Is your concious mind fighting your subconcious? Or visa versa.
This has never happened to me in a lucid dream before. Has anyone had little enough control in their lucid dream for this to have happened?

Maybe this could be used as a good dream sign.

As a child, before I knew how to control LDs, I had an LD where I tried to defend myself, and my actions were as if I was underwater. Slooooow Mooootiiionn.
At least I think I was lucid... it was a long time ago

That would make complete sense. You could have very well been lucid just unaware of you ability to control your dreams.
I have had only two nightmares since I have learned to LD

Just think. There are millions of mature adults who have less of a clue to the power they can behold than you did as a child.
Just as the miltary calls nonmiltia civilians, should we (us LDers),call the general population illucid? 8)

Speaking of disabled dreams, anyone with a disability on this forum? I am partially deaf and need glasses in the real world, but in the dream world I can see and hear perfectly! Another reason to try and dream more... Also, I have had the dreams you mentioned about not being able to move when you really need to...They suck!

i used to have this problem. the "my feet feel like they weigh 5 tons" or the "im running in slow-mo crap". I never get those dreams anymore though ever since i started lucid dreaming. actually to think of it, ive become more powrerful. I usually have superpowers for no reason and nightmares are a rarity.
