      I've stopped having Lucid Dreams

About 2 years ago I had lucid dreams very consistently. I eventually got to the point where I had them nearly every night. I would become lucid almost immediately after falling asleep. I got to the point where I perfected flying.
Until one night, I had a very strange lucid dream. I recognized I was dreaming and immediately began flying straight forward, going through the wall directly in front of me.
After flying through the wall I began going faster and faster. Suddenly I was flying through extremely vibrant colors and patterns. No real or perceivable objects around me. Just open space filled with colors and patterns.
This was by far my most intense lucid dream. I usually would wake up from these dreams pretty satisfied, but I woke up from this one fairly disturbed and uneasy. I'm guessing that the intensity of the dream was a little overwhelming.
After this dream I stopped having lucid dreams. I've only just recently began having them again. And it's only been a couple, and I don't know if I'm rusty, but I don't really have any ability to do anything interesting in them.

      Any thoughts?

welcome to the site. This isn't any great advice, But just practice in dreams. It will all come back. And if your not having as many LD's as you want, there is plenty of great techniques on the home page.

It sounds to me that you just got freaked out by an unexpected experience.

Depending on who you ask here, you'll get about 105 gazillion different explainations for your experience. Some will tell you that you temporarily lost lucidity, some will tell you that you went through a wormhole and saw the afterlife... blah blah blah. You get the picture.

No one here is right, no one here is wrong. My thoughts are that the experience startled the control right out of you. Start small again, it'll take a while to get back to your old skill level.

That sounds very much like a DMT trip, which is not surprising since the brain is supposed to produce it.

Was it just the shock of what you had seen, or more so how vivid and realistic it was?

Besides all this, I guess it's back to the journalling.
      The starz...
      The planets...
The intricate and dynamic machinery of nature...
      Are you saying,
that all of this was created,
      BY A MONKEY??????

That makes a lot of sense. And I think it was more of how vivid and realistic it was.
