I know you're probably really tired of those WAS THIS A LUCID DREAM topics...

      Sorry D;
I had a dream in which I fell down on the floor and apparently fell asleep. In the dream I had I discovered it was a dream with the hand reality check. I didn't do much, I walked downstairs from my bedroom, to the kitchen. Then I woke up, but I was still in the kitchen o.O so it was a dream of me having a lucid dream, because I also don't remember even having control of myself.
      I woke up.

I was really tired so I didn't even bother to switch on the light, but I did a reality check and went back to sleep. In my next dream I was in class, fighting with a friend. Suddenly, for some reason, I did a reality check and two of my fingers were stuck together in a really scary looking way (I remember saying "LOOK HOW WEIRD MY FINGERS LOOK HAHA THIS IS A DREAM" to one of my friends) and the dream continued on for a while, I tried flying and teleporting myself to New York.
The dream ended after spinning around trying to get the dreamscape to become New York, and it didn't work. The dreamscape faded into blue lights and before I woke up I saw this cartoonish girl waking up and saying "GEEZ THAT WAS SO AWESOME!"

Why am I not sure this was a lucid dream?
Well, firstly, I am not even sure any more if I was actually in control or not (I'm new at this so my recall isn't very good yet). Also, the dreamscape didn't fade like you guys described, and I'd expect my fingers to like... change but they kept being stuck together for a while. I read a piece of paper with LD goals because I didn't have any yet and I think some of it was gibberish but I remember reading the word "JUMP", and when I discovered it was a dream the dreamscape didn't fade and I wasn't even THAT excited. It was a lot like the first, fake lucid, and the girl at the end was REALLY strange too. Was it a dream about having a lucid dream again? :/

On the other hand, I remember doing all the things I'd usually do in a lucid dream: flying, eating fries, trying to go to New York, I even had a camera in my hands at some point (I LOVE. photography.)

If it was a lucid dream, it would be a lovely first one. If it wasn't, it was an amazing dream.

Sorry if I seem really dumb or something, I never had an LD before so I have no idea what it's like :/
(And I'm Dutch so my English is a bit wacky.)

Believe me, I know what you mean. It's a very fine line.
Dreams are hard to understand, as they're a direct product of your mind, and as such, it's difficult to put them into language, or even understand, once you're out of them.

I know exactly what you mean about it being a dream about a lucid dream.
I sometimes wonder why I didn't do all the things I wanted to do, where as in real life I would easily remember my goals. I sometimes think I could have been dreaming about having a lucid, because I wasn't really aware. Sorry if I am being confusing, I can't explain this properly.
Well, firstly, I am not even sure any more if I was actually in control or not
      This can be explained.
I think the logic part of your brain can be turned on in different amounts.
Sometimes you don't remember your goals for your dreams, sometimes you lose lucidity, etc.
So, that means your brain might be aware you're in a dream, but not as aware as you are when you're conscious. Which makes some things... hazy.
If you were fully aware, you'd wake up, so you have to be slightly less-than-fully-aware, most of the time.
But to be lucid, means that you're aware you are dreaming on some level.

I think your first dream wasn't a lucid, but your second one was.
I tried flying and teleporting myself to New York
You tried to control the dream, so that means you knew it was a dream.
Otherwise you wouldn't try to control the dream, because you would think it was real.

Actually, I think I have explained a lot of this for myself, too. Thanks for your post - in typing this, I think I've discovered something that explains many things.

Also, a warm welcome to you. Enjoy the forums!

There is a common misconception about Lucid Dreams, and that is that people usually associate them with having Control, or vivid experiences, or anything else related to what you usually read about when it comes to Lucid Dreaming.

A Lucid Dream, by definition, is a dream in which you were aware and conscious. If you were able to think, and rationalize that you were experiencing a dream, then it was infact, a Lucid Dream. You don't need control over the dream for it to be lucid. In fact, you can be completely aware of the dream, but have no control at all over what is going on, and just seem like you're "Along for the ride" so to speak, but still aware of it being a dream.

The first dream you had, would be a Lucid Dream. It wasn't really the most clear of fun Lucid Dreams, but the fact you were able to recognize it being a dream, and think to yourself that it was one, is what makes it one. Your lack of control or doing anything isn't a factor.

The same goes with your second dream, except in your 2nd dream, it sounds like in addition to the Lucidity, you had some control to go with it.

Even if you're in a dream, and then in that dream, have a lucid dream, it would still count as a Lucid Dream, because you are attaining consciousness in the dream state. So, speaking from a technical stand-point, it was a Lucid Dream.

There are alot of people who don't consider themselves to have had a Lucid Dream due to a lack of control, or the dream being short, which is understandable. I myself had done the same thing. I had technically had a Lucid, but didn't consider it one because it was my first one, and I lacked any real control, and it only lasted about 2 minutes.

      Thanks for your replies guys!
I guess it was a lucid dream after all then, just a really weird one. I'll have to practice my dream recall so I can actually remember if I was in control or not <_<

It was just really confusing, especially the first one; I mean, I woke up but I was still in the kitchen where my dream ended. And I was talking to my dad about OMG I HAD A LUCID DREAM. In the dream. o.O

Lucid dream = A dream in witch you are aware.... Yes thats all there is to it. But depending on how good your awareness is, a lucid dream can be everything from a totally mind blowning experience to just some weird dream thatīs not even worth remembering.
