Dual Awareness in a LD: Weird Experience

Yesterday I had 2 LD's, one during a nap, one during the night (numbers 6 and 7 respectively.) That said, each has been a new and awesome experience.

The seventh was interesting because I seemed to be aware I was dreaming, but at the same time I dreamed that I was in my bed! Allow me to explain. I was trying to change the dream scenario (I had once already to an underwater world and was trying to do so again) and I felt my hand hit my head board, though I hadn't moved! This woke me up eventually, but it was so weird I dreamed that I was dreaming and awake at the same time. When I woke up, I was excited to have had an LD as I always am, but was amazed by the clarity of the sensation, it had been my first real physical sensation in a dream, to feel my hand hit the head board.

Anyway, sorry to go on a tangent, but has anyone else had this experience of "dual awareness" as it were? Any good stories or ways you've used them to your advantage?

Well, during one of my WILD's I could feel both my dream self and my physical self at the same time, but that's a bit different than what you described. I think it would be fun to try splitting yourself intentionally in a lucid dream and then control both halves. Imagine if someone could be in two different dream scenes doing two completely different things by doing that.

Hmm, I don't have control so I think it was more of a matter of me remembering that I was in WILD and trying not to move my body at all. Though I am amazed by how realistic it felt. Does control come in time?

Had one dream where I was split in two dreams at once. In the main one I was fighting off a bunch of guys with guns. In the other, I was sitting at a wooden desk, but there was nothing beyond the desk, only blackness. It was like a pocket universe. Both of my selves were working together to deal with the gunmen in the main dream.

Not necessarily. You'll discover some things you can do, that you are good at, and most people just stick to those tricks. But a lot of lucid dreamers never master control beyond those few tricks.

As for me, I think there are rules and theory behind dream control that you have to learn before you get good at it. This is my take on dream control:

Congratulations on your new and awesome lucids!

It really is amazing how accurately your brain can recall and reproduce sensations and feelings.
